I suck in a breath, walking away before I cry; before I hurt her, and she wins yet another battle. “What’s wrong, running away?” She calls after me, her smile visible in her tone even though I can’t see her. “I thought we were bonding, Luna Aeliana.”

I don’t respond, I go straight to my room, and into the bathroom. I don’t let anyone’s tears slip until I’m beneath the shower. I don’t just sit there crying, I shower, but the tears don’t hold back.

While I’m still under the water, I hear someone calling me from my room. “Aeliana?” Kingston calls repeatedly.

“In here!” I clear my throat, turning off the water and tears instantly.

He shows up before I can step out, catching me naked, He smiles, staring me up and down. “Can I join you?”

“You look freshly showered,” I frown, wrapping a towel around my chest.

“I can take another one,” he offers, pulling me against his chest. “All you have to do is the word.”

“No, she had a class, so I dropped her off this morning.”

“Is everything okay?” He asks, crowding me still. “I can’t scent you, why is that?” He pauses, leaning in again, but all he catches is a whiff of my shower gel and shampoo. “Are you punishing me?”
