She nods, not knowing what she’s getting herself into. “I will.” She says, but I doubt it, Vittoria is stubborn, and the one person she fears is scared of scolding his daughters. My threats and scolding used to work on her until she realised how much I actually love her.

Mom claps, happy she got her way. “Great, we can organise the sleepover.”

“What?” My eyes widen, “No one said anything about a sleepover.”

“Why?” She pauses, staring with a wary look. “Does that bother you?”

“If you must know, yes.” I clear my throat, holding Aeliana close again, not caring how clingy I appear. “I have trouble sleeping when she’s not sound asleep in her bed.”

Mom’s lips twitch with a smile. “You’re such a clingy husband,” she says with an eyeroll. “You forget that I have a packhouse as well, you grew up pretty safe in that house and as of lately, we have a tighter security than you do, thanks to Vittoria.” She sighs, something broken and tired flickering in her gaze. “I don’t get it, she was my sweet baby girl.”

“She’s a teenager, Estelle. She’ll outgrow it.” Pandora says, “My Sera, Oakley and Liana went through the phase too, but look at them now.”

“Oh, there’s your sister now.” Mom frowns, pointing towards the bar, the one place she can’t be tonight. “Excuse me.” She says, rushing towards Vittoria.

“Is gamma Hartley here?” I ask, quickly changing the topic.

“No, he’s down with a cold, so I brought a friend with me.” She says, “I was going to bring Seraphine, but you were right, Liana baby. Newlyweds need rest and time together.” She smiles, her eyes focusing on something over Aeliana’s shoulder. “Oh, there is Mrs Richard now, excuse me.”

I pull Aeliana aside, and Pandora offers me a grateful smile as she sashays away. “How does the newlywed thing apply to them, and not us?”

She shrugs, “We were locked in my room for four days.”

“And I’d like to go back there.” I groan. I’ll take any and every break I can spend with her. The last four days weren’t just us fucking it out, we had a blissful two days just talking and cuddling. I love cuddling with Aeliana, it’s become one of my favourite activities, I feel at peace when my head is in her lap, getting head pats that feel like rewards I’ve come to long for.

Aeliana laughs, “Be serious.”

“I am, they married before us.” I remind her, “They’re old weds, Siren. We are the newlyweds, and we’ve hardly had any time to be just that,”

“It’s for a good cause,” she says, tugging on my collar until I’m within reach. “For the kids,” she whispers against my lips, kissing me.

“Fine,” I sigh. “Anything for the children I guess.”

“Hmm in that case, I’ll see you later.” She says, giving me another quick kiss before pulling away. “Let me work.” She winks, flickering her fingers in a wave motion while she backs away.

I watch her, waiting for her to turn back so I can blow her a kiss but she doesn’t turn, she carries, fully in Luna mode now. She works the room gracefully, sliding from person to person as if properly acquainted with them
