Me? “Nope,” I snort out a laugh.

“Why not?” She raises an eyebrow. “You have a more active sex life than I do. You and Alpha Kingston are always at it. Don’t think I didn’t notice you last night, Luna Aeliana.”

“My noah,” I gasp, my cheeks heating up from embarrassment as I look behind me, thankfully everyone seems to be busy with their own thing.

“You came in flushed, drenched in perfume, and then you disappeared for like thirty minutes in the middle of it all.”

I shrug, the memory enough to make me laugh. “That means nothing.”

“You should take one of those shifters tests,” she casually says. “There’s only so much the birth control can handle. Didn’t you just have your heat cycles?”.

“Yes?” I frown, it’s not meant to be a question but it comes off as just that.

“That messes with stuff,” she shrugs.

“No.”

“Yes,” she confidently says. “You know how seriously I take birth control, so trust me. My dad would kill me if I sprang a mini Noah.”

She’s right.

Noah is on top of her birth control and tracks her heat very well, but I know my body, I’ve spent twenty-three years in it. “Pretty sure I’d know if I were pregnant,” I tell her, a bit more confidently this time. “Actually, Kingston would know before me, they know when it sticks.”

“How come Sidekick had no idea?”

“Because he isn’t an Alpha,” I explain. “Alphas can tell when a baby sticks a little while after, I think two or three weeks. So he’d tell me.”

She nods, “Is this like the Alpha who gets you pregnant, or just any?”

“Depending on how far along you are, it could be any.” I pause, images of Kingston’s recent attentiveness toward Dani flashing in my mind. “Kingston likely knew before Dani and Rowan.”

“Wow,” Noah gasps. “I thought that was a myth.”

“Nope, you can scent it in the person. We would’ve too, but she often smells like Rowan, so it was an attentive bet.” I tell her.

Noah moves closer, moving her head from side to side. I freeze, “What are you doing?”

“Smelling you,” she says, blinking innocently.

“Nope,” I pull away. “No. No. No,” i warn. “Don’t curse me with that.”

She laughs, proud of herself for freaking me out. “I have a new test in my car, not like Danielle’s, but it’s a shifter’s test too, faster and more accurate reading.”

“Why?” I play dumb. I know where she is going with this, but it’s more fun to bait her too. “Do you have something to tell me?”

“It was negative,” she tells me. “And thank God because can you imagine? Me, with a kid? Hell no. I got the routine ones, but one is untouched because the first two came out negative.”

I nod, she always takes three tests. “Let’s get it, and I need to see Maddox while we are at it.”

At the mention of Maddox, she whines. “Ugh, that annoying tall thing?”

“Yes, him.” I smile. “He has all my data, and he might help with some extra protection. Anything to keep the babies out of my womb, thank you.” I say, pulling her with me to Maddox’s office at the packhouse mini clinic where he should be today.

“You do realise you will have to birth a couple or at least one?”

“I know,” I sigh. Bearing an heir is in fact the sole importance of a Luna, always has been, since the early days. Both my mother and Kingston’s have already hinted at wanting us to have a child, and any other Luna would jump at this, but I’m not there yet. I need to fix myself first. “And I will. Eventually.”
