AELIANA
I finally did it.

I submitted my application to VU this morning, and I had the opportunity to sit in on a few lectures. My favourite was Noah’s, of course. She’s doing great, when she’s in the lecture theatre, she acts like she’s been doing this her whole life, something I can learn from if I do get the job. When I dropped off my application, the secretary was excited and wanted me to instantly meet the Dean, but I insisted that they treat me like the rest of the applicants. I even applied as Aeliana Hartley, which won’t be helping my case but it’s worth a shot.
Noah and I had lunch together, and she gave me a tour around campus, convinced that we’ll be working together soon, and honestly, I’d like that. Not having any free time gives me no time to drown in my head. I also sat in on another lecture, an ethics class, just so I didn’t distract Professor Fren in her element.
By the time we left VU, Kingston had sent me a dozen texts, most of them rumbling about his day, but one of them caught my attention, it was him asking me what colour he should wear to tonight’s party so he could match me. As cute as that message was, I had no idea there would be a party at home.
Danielle found out she was pregnant just two days ago and tonight, Audrey has thrown her a party. Not just a small party, an extravagant one, right here in the packhouse and now I’m stuck at a party with people I don’t
want to see.
I’m stuffing my face with appetisers when the event planner of the year offers me a glass of wine. I take it, sniffing it for anything foreign. Audrey laughs, “Oh please, when have I ever tried to kill you?”
“There’s a first time for everything, is there not?”
“I’ll take a sip if you want me to,” she grins, reaching for the glass, but I pull it away. This is a party, likely ten or more people saw her offer me a drink so surely she wouldn’t poison me here.
I don’t drink from it yet, but I watch her. “What game are you playing?”
She shrugs, “None.” She says, but that smile on her face leaves more to the imagination.
“You think im stupid?”
“I do,” she nods. “But truly, I’m not playing any games with you, Luna Aeliana.”
“So you expect me to believe that you’ve just moved on from him?” I snarl, watching her closely. I know Audrey, she would never give something up this easily, I once had a broken arm because her mom gave me the doll she wanted. “That you have another manipulated victim and you’re in love with him?”
“Oh, Jamie? Yeah, he’s lucky to have me and as for Kingston? Make no mistake, he’s still mine.”
“You’re a sick bitch, Audrey.” I almost gag. “Stagging a suicide just for attention?”
Her head tilts, not a single ounce of regret in her eyes, “You’re just mad you didn’t think of it first.”
“No,” I snap. “I don’t have to resort to those dirty tricks for his attention, I get that unwarranted.”
“Enjoy it.” She simply says, trying to walk away but I yank her back by the hair.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“The party?” She giggles, fully amused. “I worked hard on it, so you’d better enjoy it and smile, or everyone will think you’re jealous that Dani is the pregnant one and not you.”
