RIVER

I love my mother-in-law, really. One of the best perks of marrying into the Vale family is their mom, Luna Estelle, who is great, and when you have a great mother-in-law like that, it makes it so hard to say no to things that she may ask of you-for example, having a talk with her youngest daughter Vittoria. I have not the slightest idea what I’m going to say to that kid, but I immediately said yes and asked her to rope Luna Aeliana into it too.

I arrived at the house about an hour ago, I’ve been waiting for Luna Aeliana since. My son is playing with some kids in the backyard while I’m stuffing my face with fresh olives from my mother-in-law’s enchanted garden. No seriously, her garden is blessed, everything that comes out tastes so good.

Luna Aeliana arrives in a rush, stopping when she sees me. “River,” she smiles. “Hi.”

“Hi,” I wave, cleaning my hands with a napkin. “You had a fun night, huh?” I smile, looking at the hickeys on her neck, the top of her breasts and the marks on her wrists.

She gasps, letting her hair fall free, and using it to cover her hickeys. “That looks like it hurts,” I frown. “I almost reported Kingston to himself.”

Her cheeks flush, “It’ll go away.”

“I just know he’s grinning proudly having you walk around looking owned and freshly fucked.”

Luna Aeliana nervously laughs, “You’re making me feel embarrassed, River,” She says, trying to cover up some

“I’m just messing with you, I can’t see anything.” I lie.

“Have you talked to Vittoria yet?”

I shake my head and she sighs. “I was hoping you’d have already, that’s why I lied about being close.” She tells me, “You know her better than I do, I’m just a stranger who married her brother now.”

“If you keep that mentality she’s going to have a ball with you,” I snicker. Vittoria is going through a very disrespectful phase, and her parents are too soft and busy to smack some sense into her. That’s my advice, but I have never uttered it out loud because they treat their daughters like fragile jewels.

“Where is she?”

“Upstairs,” I sigh, getting myself off the sofa with much hassle. I feel like a whale, my baby seems to keep growing two sizes bigger every day.

Luna Aeliana frowns at my discomfort. “You can stay here, and I’ll get her.”

“No,” I groan. “I got you into this, we’ll see it through together.”

“Are you sure you can walk upstairs?”

I nod, finding her concern cute, but she also appears somewhat traumatised by the state I’m in, I’m not exactly small, I’m much taller than she is and I still look like a victim of pregnancy thanks to the Vale family genetics.

She stays behind me the whole time, as if looking to catch me if I fall. The door to Vittoria’s bedroom is slightly open, and we can hear sounds coming from it. According to the maids, she is supposed to be alone upstairs so imagine my shock when I hear moaning in there.

The boy moves fast, I’ve never been more grateful to see a condom than I am right now. “If I catch you anywhere near her again I’m going to cut that little thing off,” I warn. “Is that clear?”

He nods, “Yes.” He chokes out, his voice pained.

I step away from the door, and he slips away, leaving his shoes behind. Luna Aeliana looks horrified, at this rate, we’ll break our Luna. “Put your clothes on,” I tell Vittoria. “And meet us downstairs.”

“You have no right to barge into my room like that,” she huffs. “What is wrong with you?”

“Us?” I frown. “Tori what is wrong with you? What the hell are you thinking, having boys here? Letting them in your room, in you.” I gag.

“Rune is my boyfriend,” she snaps, glaring at us. “You-”

“Shut up and put your clothes on,” I warn, turning to leave. Luna Aeliana doesn’t move so I take her arm and pull her with me. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” she sucks in a deep breath. “Now I know what Rowan feels like every time he walks in on Kingston and me.”

I laugh, “Been there. Kingston walked in on me losing my virginity.”

She gasps, “No.”

“Yes,” she nods. “And the worst part is Damien told me not to mind him. He didn’t even look, he simply got what he came for, said no babies and left. I couldn’t look at him after that, but your mate is pretty chill.” I smile. “I was so scared to get naked after that, I almost rejected Damien and his response was, you can’t reject me with my baby inside you,” I tell her, mimicking my mate’s deep voice. “I was obliviously two months along, and didn’t know shit.”

Luna Aeliana pauses, “You got pregnant your first time? River, weren’t you guys careful?”

“You really are fated mates,” I laugh. “That was exactly what Kingston said to us. He was the first person we told.”
