Chapter 268
“Oh, she thinks I mean physically,” Seraphine cackles. Yes, cackling because even her laugh is absolute evil. She’s hell’s favourite demon wrangler, and Audrey is right there beside her, tied for the same position because they’re two of a kind.
I glare, the absolute joy in her laughter pissing me off. “I know you missed a lot these past few months, but I’m your Luna now, not one of your little toys, Sera. If you’re looking to be amused, try elsewhere and I don’t mean the help.” I warn, “Because if I hear even one complaint about you? I’ll kick your ass, in every literal sense of the word. My staff is not to be played with, and they are not your slaves either.”
She gasps, “But I haven’t done anything.”
“It was Lexie, huh?” Audrey asks.
I pause, my eyes flickering between them. Lexie didn’t say anything. I’m issuing this warning based on how she treated the staff at our parents’ house and how empty the kitchen is, thanks to their presence. “Did you forget what happened the last time you messed with her?” I ask, an eyebrow raised. “Because that was tame compared to what I will do to you this time and Kingy,” I mimic her voice. “He won’t save you like last time.”
Audrey rolls her eyes, “No one is interested in your ugly little maid, so you can rest at ease and relax on your little trip.” She says, “Who knows, must be your first and last alone with him.”
Must be?
Not could be, no, but must be? Did she tamper with the car? What did she do?
“Nothing.” She laughs, responding before I can even ask. “What do you think I did? I wouldn’t kill my Luna and her Alpha.” She pouts.
“Didn’t you try to kill her already babes?” Seraphine asks with a twisted smile.
Audrey glares at her, “Are you mad? I would never try to kill her, death is too easy, and I’m no longer trying anything, she will walk away from him on her own.” She confidently says. “I don’t even have to do anything. anymore. You’ll ruin your life yourself, Luna. It will be you who will push him away, and if you fail? I’ll give you a little shove.” She grins, “Because you know, I love you like that.”
Love me my ass.
Something is definitely not right with her. Not just Audrey, Seraphine too, and I blame the people who raised them for fostering this narcissistic, sociopathic behaviour because they turned a blind eye to it all.
“Siren!” I hear Kingston call from the other room.
“Aww, he’s calling you.” Audrey pouts.
“Yes, Honey?” I call after him, loud enough for him to hear.
“We need to leave, where are you?”
“Kitchen,” I answer, already on my way to meet him.
He comes in quick, meeting me before I’m out the door. His eyes shift between us, careful and analysing. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” I hook my arm in his. “Just saying goodbye to Cinderella’s evil sisters.”
“Does that make you Cinderella then sis?”

I shrug, “I’m whoever got Prince Charming, sis.” I say, feeling too petty to just ignore the remark. Audrey smiles, “Cinderella.”
“Snow white,” Kingston says. “She’s the fairest in all the lands.”
His comment leaves them stunned, it’s not like him to respond of even engage in such childish conversations. He would put a stop to it immediately, but instead, he found an alternative highly accurate princess to compare me to. I could be snow white, and one of them could pass for the old lady who tried to poison the girl repeatedly. But an apple wouldn’t work on me, I’m more of a wine poisoned snow white.
Kingston and I leave the kitchen, but my smile follows me out the door. “You’re awfully happy, and you haven’t seen where I’m taking you yet.”
That’s right, I still don’t know where it is that he is sweeping me off to. He simply asked me to bring a change of clothes and dress comfortably. “So, where are we going?” I ask, “Can you tell me now?”
“On a little trip,” he grins smugly. “I hope you packed a change of clothes.”
I nod, the clothes are in the car already. “But what kind of little trip requires a change of clothes, huh?”
He opens the passenger seat door to my car, guiding me in. “We’re going to a pack about four to ten hours away,” he says, fastening my seat belt like I’m a child. It’s an argument I’m not willing to start because he won’t let me buckle myself in.
“And how are we getting there?”
