Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269

KINGSTON

Aeliana slept through our flight, all four hours of it. I didn’t dare wake her, she looked pretty tired but peaceful while napping.

Even now, I hate to wake her, but I have to, I’ve been planning this trip to Ravenclaw for a while now, and arranging for us to visit took even more paperwork than she’ll ever know.

I smooth a hand over her hair, “Wake up sleepy head.” I coo, caressing her cheek. “Aeliana…”

Her eyes flutter open, still a little tired. “Where are we?”

“Ravenclaw,” I smile, barely containing my excitement of finally having gotten her here.

She yawns, straightening. “Why?” She pauses, looking out the window. “This isn’t on your allies’ list, and I know this because I’ve read that list.”

Of course she has. She’s been buried in pack history the last couple of days, and if not that, then she’s busy with Danielle, out with Noah, visiting the foundation. She’s dedicated herself to her Luna duties, but it’ll be a while before she can balance that with her Aeliana duties. I don’t want her to lose herself in giving to others, which is why I made this trip happen so fast. “We’re here because you’ve been wanting to see a certain little boy, haven’t you?”

Her eyes light up instantly. “Calen?”

I nod. “Yeah, the couple that adopted him live here.”

She pouts, her eyes now gleaming with tears that fill so quickly. “Kingston.”

“No,” I warn. I knew there’d be tears, when I started this journey, but still, I don’t want to see her cry. Happy tears or not, I find no pleasure in them. “None of that crying, please. I brought you here so you wouldn’t be worried or sad about him leaving, but you’re crying now…”

She shakes her head, blinking them away. “No I’m not,” she sniffs. “How did you find him?”

“Well, it wasn’t hard,” I confess, I found Calen two days after she had a breakdown about him leaving, arranging the meet-up was the hard part. “Your little boy was adopted by the Alpha of Ravenclaw, who also happens to be his uncle.”

Aeliana gasps, “What?”

“Alpha Grayson,” I say, the mere mention of his name irritating, “His late brother was Calen’s father, and when I reached out to him, we had a chat, and he was happy to have us over.”

She frowns, “But you don’t do business with him.”

She’s right.

In the past, I wouldn’t. There are plenty of Alphas with whom I don’t get along, but those I can meet on the middle ground, but Grayson? He is a tough, corrupt one. “I will,” I tell her. “Not much, but just enough to keep us in touch so you never have to worry about the boy, and you can still see him.”

Her jaw drops, eyes wide and already filling with tears again. “You’re willing to do business with someone you hate for me? That’s so sweet, Kingston.”

My lips pull into a proud smile, I didn’t do it for the praise but I’ll take it. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you,

Siren.”

She throws her arms around me, “Thank you,” she says, placing a soft kiss against my cheek. “This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.”

“Nicer than baby Elian?” I ask.

I can’t help myself, I’ve been looking for a way to outdo Damien and River for two weeks now. I appreciate the gesture, I’m fully in support of them naming their new son Elian, he looks like an Elian, but that’s not something I’ve done. I have a few properties named after her, but none derived from her actual name, it’s like we are in competition to prove who loves my mate the most, a competition I will eventually win.

I pull back, watching her. “Yeah?”

“No,” she says with a smile. “But it’s a close second.”

I sigh, “You need to stop using those words loosely, I thought I did it.”

“Did what?”

“Never mind that,” I brush it off. “When will you stop acting so surprised when I do something nice for you? Especially these low-effort things.”

Her nose scrunches up slightly and she squints, “Low effort?” she snickers.

“Pretty much,” I nod. “There’s nothing that I’ve done for you that has conflicted me yet, it’s always an easy choice for me, and I want you to know that even the hardest of choices are easy when they’re for you.”
