I nod, so it’s not murder. “Tell me.”

I rise, “Let’s go to your room.” I offer, pulling her with me. I drag her to the guestroom we’ve all just decided belongs to her since the first time she slept there. It’s always ready for her, it gets cleaned and readied every day in preparation for her.

“Did you tell him?”

“No,” my head slowly shakes. My track record of speaking up makes me even more upset than the fact that that monster touched me. Somehow, I was at fault, I was the one dragging my family in the mud, I was the one lying.” I can’t,” I swallow.

“He needs to know,” she whispers. “My Ellie, you know how much he loves you, this is worrying him, and he just knows how to help you.”
