Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 296

Chapter 296

“Let’s revisit that later.”

“That’s not fair,” she groans. “Now that I’m communicating, you don’t?” She scoffs, “How hypocritical of you.”

“Do you like Doctor Eleanor?” I ask, smoothly changing the topic.

She hums, “Well….maybe if I spend more time with her I’ll know how I feel about her, but right now I feel like she’s an annoying piece of know-it-all.” She snarls, “I get that it’s her job, but she shouldn’t call patients out on the first day, she needs to ease into it, but no, she didn’t seem interested in doing that, she wanted to fuck my brain before we got to know each other.”

“That’s an interesting choice of wording,” I laugh. “And I’m glad you are open to liking her because you’ll see her again Thursday afternoon.”

“Shit,” she hisses, parking the car in its special reserved parking spot. “I forgot to ask Doctor Eleanor for my appointment schedule.”

“I know it,” I tell her. “Monday mornings, so it doesn’t clash with your classes. Tuesday afternoons, and Thursday afternoons. I’ll be dropping you off every time.”

I expect her to protest, to argue she doesn’t need me dropping her off, but she doesn’t, instead, she unbuckles her seat belt and leaves the car, tossing me her keys. I lock the car and jog after her, she doesn’t appear upset, just quiet. “Aeliana.”

“What?” she pauses. “You seemed like you needed a moment in the car,” she says. “Do you want me to make you lunch?” She asks, grinning at me. “I have a lot of time on my hands today.”

“And when did you learn to cook?”

“I can make a decent bowl of cereal,” she frowns. “It’s all about ratios, I’m good at that.”

I can’t help but laugh when I realise that she’s not joking. “It’s a good thing I’m well off, because we’d starve without the kitchen staff, and on that note, I’ll indeed need to work twice as many hours.” I jest.

“Did you say well off?” Aeliana pauses, shaking her head. “Kingston, you shut down my workplace because you’re scared of me leaving for a few minutes.”

“A pipe really did burst,” I shrug. “I had someone do it for me just in case you wanted evidence.”

Her eyes widen. “Oh God, let’s not repeat that.”

“Whatever you say, Luna Aeliana.” I smile, kissing her cheek. She blushes harder than she did in the car, I like this, I like knowing this feels as fresh and new for her as it does for me.

“I’ll check on Noah for a minute.”

“Alright.”

We part ways, she goes in the direction of the downstairs guest rooms, while I head to my office. I cleared my schedule today, but I might as well get in some work from home while she’s with Noah. They’ll be together all day, and I’ll be close enough for any emergency.

I’m not far when I’m stopped dead in my tracks by the sound of her screaming for me. She doesn’t sound scared or panicked, but still, I go running, finding them in the hallway, both of them appearing unharmed. “What happened?” I ask, eyes shifting between them. “Are you okay?”

“I need you to do something for me,” Aeliana says.

Noah whines, “My Ellie, please..”

“No, you need to hear this.”

I pause,

do?”

“What happened?” I ask, watching Noah closely. She seems nervous, she’s overly quiet. “What did she

“She kissed your best friend.”

My eyes shift back to Noah, “Maddox?” I frown, slightly intrigued by what possessed them to kiss.

Noah shakes her head, her gaze low. “The other one.” She almost whispers.
