I’ve got you baby, you’re okay.” I repeat, the words meant to comfort her but they make my heart leap. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what she’s saying, but she finally snapped. Years of sitting back and letting life happen have taken a toll on her. “You’re fine, you’re with me, deep breaths.”

“He’s going to make you leave me again,” she sobs into my chest. “They’re all in on it.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

Her sobs grow heavier, “You left me, you abandoned me just like everyone, King.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” I pet her head. “I’m right here. It’s not going to happen again, I’m not going anywhere Siren. I’m with you, calm down.”

Noah and Rowan enter the room, each from a different direction. Noah doesn’t ask questions, she simply looks at Aeliana crying in my arms and immediately jumps on Audrey, hitting her so hard that the sound of impact breaks through the sound of Aeliana weeping. “Noah,” Rowan warns.

“What is wrong with you brat?” Audrey scoffs, trying to push Noah off her without success. Rowan intervenes, the moment he touches her she lets go and pulls away from him too.

“You’re okay.” I tell Aeliana, holding her tightly.

“What the hell is going on?” Noah asks. “What did you people do to her?”

“Nothing, she just started acting out on her own,” Seraphine says, backing away. They’re in front of me, that’s the only reason why I can see anything that isn’t Aeliana breaking down.

“We were celebrating Seraphine’s pregnancy, and she just-”

“You definitely did something,” Noah glares. “And I’m going to hurt each one of you for it, just you wait until she…”

“You think I’d hurt my sister?” Seraphine frowns, still hiding behind Gemma and Audrey. Their interaction seems to unnerve Aeliana more, she cries louder, her whole body shaking against mine.

“Silence,” I command. “Everybody quiet, now.”

“Go on, disperse,” Rowan says, ushering them in the direction of all possible exists. Everyone leaves, everyone but him and Noah.

Noah rushes over to my left, petting Aeliana’s head. “Count, my Ellie.” She softly says. “Name your five.” Aeliana’s head lifts from my chest, her eyes settling on Noah. “It got me again,” She sobs.

Noah lowly gasps, “Again?”

She nods, more tears streaming down her cheeks, her eyes red. “I’m going to kill him.” She says, falling into Noah’s arms.

“What did you do, King?” Rowan asks, sounding rather annoyed for someone who smells like a woman

who isn’t his mate. The scent is subtle, but it’s there.

“Not him,” Noah says, rubbing Aeliana’s back. But if she’s not talking about me then who is it that she’s talking about? “My Ellie, listen to me, you’re okay. Hmm? You’re fine, my baby,” Noah tells her, her voice strained like she’s about to join Aeliana in tears. “Look at him,” she says, gently pulling away from her chest and making Aeliana face me. “Look who you’re with. See, it’s Kingston.” She pats her head. “You’re safe, he’s right here. I’m here, Side-Rowan is here too, we won’t let anything happen to you, you’re fine, my Aeliana.”

“Fine?” Aeliana squeaks out.

“Yes.” Noah nods.

I have no clue what’s happening, no idea who hurt her. I look at Rowan for some sort of a clue, hoping he might know because he was here while I was gone. Noah wipes her tears and hugs her, whispering something in her ear, it sounds like mumbling to me, but Aeliana is nodding, and her sobs are quiet.

“What is going on?” I ask Rowan via the pack link.

“I don’t know,” he shrugs. “I was out like a log with those cancellation things.”

“Aeliana?” I softly say.

She pulls away from Noah who nods, “Hmm?” She sniffs.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, I just…”

My eyes drop to her hand, “Someone bring me the first aid box.”

“I’m not hurt,” she says.

Noah rises, “I’ll get it.” She says, already jogging to the nearest bathroom. Rowan moves too, following behind her, claiming he’ll help.

I take Aeliana’s hands, “Do you not feel it?” I ask, staring down at the bits of glass in her palms. “You’ve cut your hands, you’ve scratched your skin with glass, you’re bleeding.”

She gasps when she finally mirrors my gaze, “How did this…” she winces, as if feeling the pain for the first time. And yet, her first thought is to apologise. “I’m sorry.”

Noah and Rowan return, “I got the box.” She says, pointing to Rowan. I don’t miss the smudge of lipstick on him or the redness on Noah’s face, but I ignore it, guiding Aeliana to the sofa. “This won’t hurt,” I tell her.

“I don’t want Seraphine and that thing she married in our house, Kingston.” She tells me, her eyes gleaming with tears again. “Please, I don’t want them here anymore, they stayed, I endured, I got hurt, I…. they need to go.”
