My Ellie dragged me to her house because she didn’t want to sleep alone. The first night we stayed over at my house, Kingston spent the night outside. We didn’t notice until we went out for a midnight snack and invited him inside. He was very clear about wanting to stay the night and had we not let him in, then he’d have been outside all night, scaring my neighbours. So the next day, we all decided to return to the packhouse, which was a very bad idea on my end.

I didn’t want to be in the same space as Rowan, he and his wife having an open marriage doesn't make me feel better about sleeping with him. I've been involved with couples in open relationships before now, but this feels wrong, and yet I keep circling back there.

I’m sitting across from his wife, picking at my plate with guilt while Danielle tells Aeliana about her solo vacation plans. I don’t try as much to interact with her anymore, I can't be friends with her now. And the reason we can't be friends walks into the room shirtless and in his joggers.

“Good evening, everyone.” He greets, smiling from ear to ear.

I look away from him, I know why he’s smiling.

When he doesn't go around the table to where his wife is seated, my gaze lifts, following him. He’s coming towards me, my heart races and my grip on my steak knife tightens in a silent warning. He doesn’t say anything, he stops where Aeliana is and leans in to kiss her cheek. “Hey, Luna.” He says, moving on to kiss my cheek, slow and sensual.

Aeliana growls, wiping her cheek. “You’re overly nice.”

“I’m in a good mood,” he tells her, settling down beside Danielle. I look away when he kisses her cheek.

“Are you done planning your trip tomorrow?”

He nods, making himself a plate. Kingston walks in moments later, kissing Aeliana. “Rowan?” He frowns, obviously scenting him on her. Aeliana whispers something in his ear, and he sits down next to her, eating off her plate.

“Stop,” Aeliana sighs. “I already made you a plate, what more do you want from me?”

“Chew for me.”
