They made dinner together, each of them putting together a couple of dishes, so the table ended up looking pretty impressive. After dinner, Rebecca started to clear the dishes, but Shawn stopped her and rolled up his sleeves. “I’ll do it.”
“We cooked together, so we should clean up together.”
“Don’t worry about it. Go watch TV. Your drama’s about to start.”
Rebecca looked surprised. “You know which show I’m following?”
He smiled. “Of course I know. You watch it every day. How could I not notice?”
She pouted a little, almost teasing. “I thought you were too busy running around to pay attention to me.”
Shawn grinned. “How could I not pay attention to you? I’m always watching, just in case you get into trouble.”
His words weren’t exactly romantic, but somehow, they were sweeter than any love confession. Rebecca felt her cheeks warm up. She dropped her gaze and wandered into the living room, quietly turning on the TV. She fiddled with her strawberry bear keychain, her heart bubbling with a gentle sweetness.
When it was time to get ready for bed, Rebecca saw Shawn carrying his blanket out of the bedroom. She pouted, a little annoyed. “Why are you still sleeping on the couch?”
Shawn looked confused. “Where else would I sleep?”
“Aren’t we supposed to sleep together?”
His breath caught. Was she serious? Rebecca looked up at him with these perfect big eyes. She’d just showered, so her lashes were damp, and her eyes were misty, like she’d just stepped out of a dream. It was almost impossible to look away.
Shawn turned his head, cleared his throat, and his voice came out low and rough. “Weren’t you the one who sentenced me to the couch?”
“I said you had to sleep there until you understood what you did wrong.”
“I guess I still don’t know what I did wrong.”
Rebecca stared at him for a second, totally speechless. So what was with the bear keychain? And that kiss? Did those mean nothing? Her mood crashed. She clenched her teeth. “You’re doing this on purpose just to annoy me, aren’t you?”
Shawn just shrugged and raised his brows. “No, really. I don’t know what I did wrong.”
“You…” Rebecca was so angry she stomped her foot, then turned and marched into the bedroom, slamming the door so hard it rattled and then locking it, just in case.
Shawn stood in front of the door, a smile starting to spread on his lips. Back in school, he used to think the guys who teased their girlfriends were ridiculously childish, but now he finally got it. There was something really fun about seeing this side of her, something only he ever got to see.
The thought lingered in his mind and his throat tightened a little. Right then, his phone vibrated on the table. He picked it up and saw a message.
[I’ll be in London at nine tomorrow morning. You can pick where we meet.]

The ending seems abrupt. Is it like a cliffhanger? I was expecting more. A lot of questions are unanswered....
Why is the story tagged as complete when I think the chapters are incomplete and it hasn’t ended yet?...
