Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 140

“I’m sorry, ma’am. I’ll go check now. Maybe the delivery guy left it at the front desk.”

The woman on the other end sounded impatient. “Forget it. Since you didn’t respond for so long, they aren’t willing to mediate anymore. They’re going straight to labor arbitration. I’m just calling to remind you that you’ll get a notice about it next week. Don’t miss that one too.”

“Okay,” Rebecca answered, her voice as calm as ever.

The labor bureau official hesitated, a little thrown off by Rebecca’s lack of emotion. After a moment, she softened her tone. “You can hire a lawyer, you know. They can help organize all the paperwork for you.”

She almost added that it might give Rebecca a better shot at winning, but after remembering the details from the file, she let it go. There really wasn’t much hope.

If Rebecca had agreed to mediate earlier, she might have gotten away with paying less. Now, she’d be lucky to escape losing three million.

The official sighed. “That’s all I can tell you.”

Rebecca smiled. “Thank you for looking out for me, ma’am, but I was planning to refuse mediation anyway. This isn’t so bad.”

The official was silent, clearly surprised. Was she really that confident?

After hanging up, Rebecca walked to the front desk. “Linda, have I gotten any letters this week?”

Linda, the company’s only admin and receptionist, handled all the incoming and outgoing mail.

Hearing the question, she quickly pulled up her log on the computer. Every delivery was recorded.

She opened the spreadsheet, searched for Rebecca’s name, and blinked. “No, Ms. Harper. Nothing.”

Rebecca frowned. “Any packages?”

Linda searched again, then shook her head. “None.”

Rebecca glanced around the reception area and spotted a security camera overhead. “Can you show me the surveillance footage from this week?”

“It’s all here on this computer.” Linda brought up the video files.

Rebecca clicked through the clips one by one. She watched letters and packages being dropped off and picked up, but the camera wasn’t clear enough to see names or addresses.

Just as she was about to close out, she caught a glimpse of Greg’s torso on the screen.

When Rebecca came out of the restroom, Judy caught her at the library entrance.

“Rebecca, you must be tired from studying so much. Let me give you a massage to help you relax.”

Rebecca blinked in surprise. That really wasn’t necessary.

But Judy was already at it, guiding Rebecca onto a sofa by the entrance and kneading her shoulders with soft hands, giggling as she worked. “How’s that, Rebecca? Feel good?”

People walking by started glancing their way.

Rebecca looked up at her. “You need something from me, don’t you?”

Judy immediately blushed, caught red-handed.

Rebecca sighed. “Whatever it is, just say it.”

Judy crouched at Rebecca’s feet, looking up like a helpless kitten. “Rebecca, I’m not giving you a massage just because I want something. I honestly, truly would love to have you as a friend.”
