The people lingering around were utterly astounded.
They hadn't expected Raelynn, who usually seemed so approachable and easygoing, to be so razor-sharp with her words.
And a total rejection?
Just how terrible was the report?
Seraphina stood up. The stares from everyone around her made her incredibly uncomfortable, but she glared at Raelynn. "Is this really necessary?"
Wasn't Raelynn just targeting her on purpose?
Using harsh words to publicly humiliate her!
She was clearly a fraud of a professor, pretending to understand things she didn't, and trashing her report as if it were worthless!
She refused to believe Raelynn had actually understood it all.
She was just letting the power trip go to her head, using her new position to throw her weight around.
Raelynn genuinely had no desire to debate this with her.
Her conclusion was entirely objective.
In fact, seeing Seraphina's flashy, jargon-filled report actually made her a little angry.
It was precisely because so many people in the industry cared only about fame and fortune, decorating themselves with fancy titles to gain social status, while producing misleading garbage that made zero medical progress and sometimes even dragged the field backward. They were parasites.
It reminded her of one particularly infamous figure in medical history.
Their papers had misled countless professionals, causing research on certain diseases to veer completely off track.
"If you don't respect my judgment, why show it to me? Or can you only handle empty praise? Princess?" Raelynn shot back.
Seraphina ground her teeth. "I just think you need to convince everyone. Don't the professors have to write reports too? Why don't you let us learn from yours?"
As she spoke.
She gestured to the content displayed on the projector screen.
The meeting they just had was likely analyzing that very document.
She read a few lines.
It was dense and completely baffling.
Most likely, it was a prime example of what not to do.
One of the students nearby couldn't take it anymore and chimed in, "That's Professor Ortiz's report. It was unanimously approved by all the mentors as a top-tier example..."
Seraphina froze.
She thought she had misheard.
Raelynn stood up. "The report is the first step for everyone to enter this competition fairly. If you can't pass, take a long, hard look at your own flaws."
Seraphina's face turned incredibly ugly.
Her eyes tracked Raelynn, and she suddenly demanded, "This supposed top-tier report... did you actually write it yourself?"
Sebastian looked at her. "What happened?"
Seraphina let out a helpless sigh and shook her head. "It's nothing major, really..."
"It's just that with the difference in our statuses, I have to take whatever is thrown at me. My report was completely rejected in front of everyone. We only have so many chances. If it doesn't pass soon, I'll have to give up my spot and leave the medical project." Her mention of the 'difference in status' made it glaringly obvious who she was talking about.
Sebastian understood immediately.
He also understood the implication—someone was making things difficult for her.
Sebastian turned his head slightly.
He looked at the building.
It was as if his gaze could pierce the thick walls to find a tall, slender figure inside.
"I'll take care of it."
Joy blossomed on Seraphina's face, and she thanked him softly. "Thank you, Sebastian."
His phone rang.
Sebastian glanced at it.
He stepped out of the car to answer.
A man's voice came through the receiver. "Boss, we've looked into your ex-wife's movements over the years. No unusual travel routes, she's never appeared in public with a child, and we haven't found any evidence of close contact with any men. Her record is pretty transparent."
