Leslie’s POV

The attendant at the door, sharp as ever, hurried over to open the way for me. "Miss Leslie, please, come right in."

I glanced at Leiss with a smirk. The attendant, ever professional, felt the need to explain the situation. "Mr. Leiss here was causing a scene and even got physical inside. The director and producer had him escorted out."

I burst out laughing. Leiss' expression was as foul as if he’d just stepped in something rotten.

He shot a freezing glare at the attendant. "Did I ask for a commentary?"

"Who are you trying to scare, Beta Leiss?" I chuckled. "Well, we’ll be heading in now."

With that, I glanced back at Adler. According to formal etiquette, I needed to take my companion’s arm. Just as I was hesitating, Adler stepped forward and offered his arm proactively.

It was a mere formality, so I didn't overthink it. But just as we were about to enter, Leiss scurried up beside me with a sickeningly sycophantic smile. "Leslie, come on, take me back in with you."

My smile turned cryptic. "Do you really think that’s going to happen?" I had been firmly on Kelly’s side from the very beginning.

He pursed his lips and leaned in, lowering his voice so only the two of us could hear. "If you don't, I’ll have Kirby come down here and get me in himself. He won't just 'cause a scene'—people are going to end up in the hospital." He finished with a meaningful glance toward Adler at my side.

Dammit. Was this guy actually threatening me?

A wave of irritation washed over me, but the problem was, I believed him. With Kirby’s volatile temper, he was more than capable of doing exactly that.

I twitched my lips, weighing the options for a few seconds before turning back to the attendant. "Let him in. My word."

Without another word, I turned and walked away as if trying to avoid a bad smell.

Adler didn't ask a single question. Once inside, he thoughtfully helped me off with my coat and handed it to a nearby server. I smiled and thanked him. I reached for a glass of red wine, but he gently intercepted my hand.
