Leslie’s POV
As I chatted with Carris and Adler, I caught a glimpse of the director and Michael approaching us, drinks in hand and wearing wide smiles. Seeing the flush on their faces and the palpable excitement in Michael’s Beta pheromones, I knew this season had been a massive financial success for them.
Honestly, I was happy for them. Even though the start of the season had been rocky due to Kirby and me dropping out, Kelly had managed to carry the show. Beneath her quiet, gentle exterior lay a razor-sharp mind and a logical clarity that provided endless highlights. She hadn't just spoken up for female werewolves struggling in contract relationships; she had earned herself a massive following. My decision to recommend her had clearly been the right move.
"Leslie, it’s been far too long!" Michael complained with dramatic flair. "I wanted to visit you while you were recovering, but the Rogue blades blocked me at every turn. They told me you didn't want to see me!"
I gave his glass a light clink, the bubbles in my soda water fizzing against the glass. I shot him a lazy, amused look. "It wasn't me—it was clearly my brother who didn't want to see you."
Michael’s face froze, looking for all the world like he was wondering if he was truly that unlikeable.
The director laughed heartily, stepping in to bail him out. "Leslie, don't listen to his nonsense! He’s been so busy he barely has time to eat. I haven't seen him make a personal call to anyone in over two weeks!"
I smiled and shifted the conversation, introducing Adler to them.
When the director learned Adler was an Alpha from the Gold Pack in the East Continent, his eyes lit up instantly. His attitude shifted to one of profound respect—the kind of deference usually reserved for a future billionaire benefactor.
Adler’s gentle, approachable aura was incredibly charismatic, a sharp contrast to Kirby’s freezing, distant demeanor. The director must have felt the same, because as the atmosphere grew more relaxed, he actually had the audacity to suggest: "Would you and Miss Leslie consider joining us for the next season, Lord Adler?"
I nearly choked on my soda. Adler on a reality show? Setting aside the fact that his reserved personality wasn't suited for variety shows, a move like that right after the recent slander scandal would be a disaster. It might generate buzz, but it would also lead to endless speculation that he was just trying to cash in on the drama.
I was about to decline on his behalf when Adler spoke first. He gave a gentle smile, his tone soft but firm. "I would actually love to participate with Leslie. However, I’ve heard that Lord Kirby is also an investor in this show. If he agrees, then I have no objection."
Those words were like a bucket of ice water being dumped over the director’s head.
