Alden barely spared her a glance, his tone calm but distant. “Nira’s at the Shadowgrid Squad training camp. It’s a three–month closed program. No contact, no interruptions.”
He knew about the situation at the Soren family, but not the full extent of it. It wasn’t until Nira canle to him directly that he realized just how far they’d gone. After that, he didn’t hesitate. He pulled strings and got her into Shadowgrid’s camp, somewhere no one from the Soren family could reach her.
Jenna’s expression snapped the second she heard that. Her wolf eyes flashed, anger breaking through without any attempt to hide it.
There was no way she’d expected this.
Nira, at Shadowgrid. Locked into a closed training cycle.
“Absolutely not,” she said sharply, completely dropping any pretense of composure. “Call them. Right now. Tell them to send her back.”
The way
she said it sounded less like a request and more like an order you’d give a servant.
Alden didn’t even blink.
That kind of tone didn’t work on him.
He straightened slightly, meeting her gaze with quiet authority. As one of Howard Academy’s top professors, his standing carried far more weight than a Luna from Blazeborn Pack, especially one like Jenna.

He leaned back slightly, his expression turning cold. “Mrs. Soren, Shadowgrid Squad isn’t something you can just call and shut down. That program is directly under the Howell family. You don’t get to override that.”
That only made her angrier.

“I’m her mother,” Jenna shot back, her voice rising. “I have every right to bring her home. Who do you think you are trying to block me?”
Alden let out a quiet, humorless laugh, and this time he looked at her properly, the disdain in his eyes no longer hidden. “Her mother?” he repeated, his tone edged with sarcasm. “Then maybe you should ask yourself what kind of job you’ve actually done.”
He didn’t give her time to respond.

“Everything the Soren family put her through, you know exactly what that looked like. Now that you nei her, suddenly you remember she exists? That’s convenient”

Alden didn’t move.
I already told you,” he said calmly. “Closed training. No contact. And as for your threat, feel free to try.
That was the end of it.
Jenna didn’t have the leverage she was pretending to have. Even the main Soren family wouldn’t casually go after someone in Alden’s position.
In the end, she had no choice but to leave, her anger bottled up with nowhere to go.
Nira’s POV:
I was in the middle of replying to emails from Silvermoon Pack when Alden called.
He told me Jenna had shown up, ran through everything that happened, and made it very clear that I shouldn’t get involved in any of it and should just focus on training.
I got it. Thanks, Alden,” I said, and ended the call.
If anything, it confirmed I made the right call coming here.
I had just put my phone down when it buzzed again.
A message.
Unknown number.
I opened it without thinking.
‘Nira, you’re not actually a daughter of the Soren family. If you want to know your real identity, come meet me alone. Otherwise, you’ll never find out the truth.”
For a moment, I didn’t move.
My fingers tightened slightly around the phone as the words settled in, slow and heavy.
