“Sorry to interrupt,” Edmund said, standing at the doorway with a stern look. “Dad says it’s time for the cake. The guest of honor shouldn’t be missing.”

Kade let out a soft sigh. I smiled and took his hand. “Come on, we shouldn’t keep Grandpa waiting.”

Back in the ballroom, a fivetier cake stood in the center. Gordon guided my hand to make the first cut, and the room filled with applause.

“Make a wish, sweetheart,” he said warmly.

I glanced around at my family, then at Kade beside me. Closing my eyes, I wished quietly. Let this last forever.

When I opened them, Kade was watching me with such tenderness it felt like he knew exactly what I’d wished.

He took my hand gently and murmured near my ear, “I’ll spend my whole life making that come true.”

Desmond fakeshivered beside us. “Ugh, get a room!” That got everyone laughing.

The party went on till late. By the time the last guest left, I was nearly asleep against Kade’s shoulder.

“Want me to carry you up?” he whispered.

I was about to say yes.

“No!” Gordon, Edmund, and Desmond all said at once.

Kade looked completely defeated.

I hid a smile behind my hand.

Kade’s POV:

In the end, Gordon walked Nira to her room himself. Before leaving, he shot me a sharp,

warning look.

Late that night, I stood on the balcony, gazing toward Nira’s window.

My phone buzzed-a text from her.

“Balcony door’s unlocked.”

I couldn’t help grinning, but just as I went to reply, I noticed Gordon, Edmund, and Desmond standing across the way on the opposite balcony, all staring right at me.

Another buzz from Nira.

“Never mind. I think Grandpa and the guys noticed.”

I shook my head, halfamused, halffrustrated, and typed back, “Sleep well. See you tomorrow.”

As an Alpha King’s heir, I’d never felt so powerless before.

Across the courtyard, Gordon gave a satisfied nod. “At least the boy knows how to act right.”

At 5:30 a.m. sharp, I showed up at Hudson Manor training room.

Edmund was already there, halfshifted and looking wide awake.

“Thirty seconds late,” he said flatly. “That’s fifty extra box jumps.”

I took off my jacket without a word. “How about we skip the warmup and just spar?”

Rolling up my sleeves, I added, “Protecting Nira means being ready for real fights.”

Of course, I held back most of my strength-Odin’s full power would’ve been too much. These were Nira’s family now; I didn’t actually want to hurt anyone.

Keeping my energy in check, I traded blows with Edmund until we were almost evenly matched-until-

“Stop it!” Nira rushed in, hair messy, still in her pajamas. “What are you guys doing?”

We both pulled back immediately.

Edmund wiped sweat from his brow. “Nira, you’re up early.”

She glared, hands on her hips. “My room’s right next door! Your brawling woke me up!” Then she hurried over to me, her eyes softening as she spotted the bruise at the corner of my

mouth. “Does that hurt?”

I’d gotten it when I dodged one of Edmund’s strikes a little too slowly to avoid clipping him back.

Before I could answer, Gordon walked in, leaning on his cane. “Ahem. It’s good to see young ones so energetic, but…”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “My granddaughter isn’t fond of violence.”

“Grandpa!” Nira stomped her foot. “Edmund started it-”

“Alright, alright,” Gordon cut in, shifting topics. “We have something important today. The whole family is visiting your grandmother’s grave.”

The mood turned quiet and solemn. Nira asked softly, “Can I go too?”

Gordon’s eyes grew damp. “Of course. She’s been waiting for this day… for too long.”

Seeing Nira’s tears well up instantly made my own chest ache.

She was finally with her real family…

In front of the simple headstone, Nira looked at the kind face in the photograph and let her tears fall freely.

Gordon’s hand trembled as he touched the stone. “Sweetheart… look. Our granddaughter is

home.”
