Tessa froze for a second, staring at me like she’d just noticed something completely new. Then she let out an exaggerated gasp.

“Oh my God, do you realize how good you look when you smile? That’s actually dangerous. I might fall for you myself.”

She nudged me with a grin, clearly enjoying my reaction. “Honestly, that explains a lot. No wonder Kade didn’t call off the engagement after he woke up, even knowing you don’t have a wolf.”

I gave her a light shove to move things along. “You done? Let’s go.”

She followed, still curious, her head tilting slightly. “Okay, but seriously, what do you need a computer for?”

I didn’t answer. Instead, I led her straight into a premium electronics store and asked for the highest–spec machine they had available.

Her curiosity only grew as I pulled her down into the chair beside me. “You’ll see in a second.”

The system booted up, and I got to work immediately.

My fingers moved fast across the keyboard, code stacking onto the screen in rapid succession. I didn’t slow down, didn’t explain, just followed the path I already had in mind.

Derrick showed up not long after and stopped behind us. He and Tessa both went quiet, watching the screen like they didn’t want to miss a single detail.

She straightened a bit, glancing at me. “He’s from Frostpine Pack, plays football, and he’s been obsessed with Janice forever.”

Her tone turned more animated as she went on. “Back in high school, he literally broke into the broadcasting room and confessed to her over the school system, like the entire campus heard it. She rejected him on the spot, but he never backed off. Still hangs around like nothing happened.”

That was enough to connect the dots.

I leaned back slightly, the pieces falling into place.

Tessa, on the other hand, slammed her hand lightly against the desk. “This has to be Janice. There’s no way she’s not behind this.”

Derrick reached out and patted her shoulder, calming her down before shifting his attention back to me. “We already got the guy’s info, so what are you still working on?”

I finished the last line and hit enter. “Their firewall was full of gaps. I closed them.”
