The second Agatha said it, the room shifted before I even had time to react.

I didn’t say a word, but I saw everything. Every look and every flicker of emotion on their faces.

Damon’s expression darkened instantly. He glanced at Agatha like he didn’t understand, then turned to me, his wolf eyes sharp, carrying a clear warning.

He dicn’t need to spell it out. I got it.

Jenna didn’t bother holding back. She let out a short, mocking laugh. “You’re seriously bringing Nira to something like that? She doesn’t even have a wolf anymore. You really want her embarrassing the entire Soren family?”

She tilted her head, voice dripping with sarcasm. “Janice hasn’t even been invited before, and she’s actually accomplished something. What makes Nira qualified?”

Janice’s face stiffened immediately. When she looked at me, there was something ugly in her eyes, something cold enough to make Lyra snap awake inside me.

The anger hit fast and sharp.

I steadied her.

No point wasting energy on this.

I looked around the room, letting my gaze linger just long enough to make it uncomfortable, then smiled lightly. “Sure. Thanks, Grandma.”

Agatha looked pleased, her eyes narrowing with satisfaction. “Good. Then it’s settled.”

The second she left, Jenna turned on me.

“You don’t even know how these events work,” she said coldly. “And without a wolf? You’ll just make a fool of us. Hand the invitation to Janice.”

For a split second, I felt the urge to rip her throat out.

I clenched my fists, forced it down, and met her eyes. “Agatha gave it to me. If you’ve got a problem, go talk to her.”

That shut her up instantly.

Of course she wouldn’t dare.

Damon suddenly waved a hand like he didn’t care anymore. “If she wants you there, then go.”

Jenna grabbed his arm, stunned. “Damon, how can you -”

Aven cut her off with a look and a slight shake of his head. “Mom, this came from the main family. We don’t get a say.”

I didn’t stick around. There was nothing here worth my time.

“Since Nira is attending this year, Aven’s spot goes to Lucas.”

Garrick Soren didn’t object right away, but I could imagine the hesitation in his tone. “Mother, Aven is one of the most well–known attorneys in the Pack Alliance right now. He’s also the alpha heir of Blazeborn Pack. He has connections, he’s worked with the Flores family before, and he’s attended every year. If we suddenly replace him with Lucas, won’t that cause resentment?”

Agatha stayed calm, completely unbothered. She lifted her coffee and took a slow sip before answering, “That’s exactly the point.”

She set the cup down gently. “I want him to resent her. I want all of them to resent Nira for taking his place. That way, there’s no going back for them.”

Garrick’s tone shifted immediately. “Mother… that’s brilliant.”

He paused, then added, “Then Nira will have no choice but to rely on the main estate.”
