He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 127

“You’ll never be as good as Patti.”

“Patti’s better than you in every way.”

“Theresia, you owe Patti an apology.”

These were the words Felton threw at her over and over. The worst time, he’d actually forced her down to the floor, making her apologize to Patti. All because Patti lost a bracelet she liked and blamed Theresia for it. Felton didn’t even bother to ask what really happened. He just rushed to defend Patti, no questions asked.

Thinking back on it all still made Theresia’s chest tighten.

She frowned, lifted her chin, and met Felton’s eyes with a thin, cold smile. “You’re right. I can’t compete with Patti. How could I ever match her for scheming or cruelty? Comparing me to her is just another way to shame me, isn’t it?”

Felton was gripping the handle of the insulated lunchbox so tightly it looked like it might snap. He glared at her, voice rough. “Theresia, say that again. Go on. I dare you.”

She gave a sharp laugh. “What, can’t take it? Felton, you really are clueless. Patti says something, you believe it, no matter what. All these years, you never tried to figure out the truth, you just blamed me. Don’t you ever think for yourself? Or are you just happy letting Patti lead you around by the nose?”

Felton’s eyes were wild. His jaw clenched so hard it looked painful. If he wasn’t holding that lunchbox, he probably would have done something stupid.

“You—” he started.

She cut him off. “What about me? I’m doing just fine. Maybe you should open your eyes for once and figure out who’s really to blame.”

The elevator doors slid open. Theresia didn’t hesitate. She walked right in and didn’t look back.

Felton’s face was practically purple with anger. Even though there was still plenty of space, he waited for the next elevator. There was no way he’d ride with her.

Lying there, Leila’s voice was thick with spite. “Theresia is nothing but a bastard… and Naomi’s just as bad. Why aren’t those two dead yet?”

Patti tugged at Felton’s sleeve, giving him a look that said drop it.

She leaned over to calm Leila. “Mom, just rest for a while, okay? Felton and I need to talk outside.”

Leila didn’t answer. Patti took Felton’s arm and led him out of the room.

As soon as the door closed behind them, Felton burst out, “Patti, what is going on? What happened between Mom and Theresia this time?”

Felton’s job made taking leave a huge hassle. He’d only managed to get home last night after hearing Leila was in the hospital. Up until now, he was completely in the dark.
