He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 131

Theresia really had forgotten her riding clothes. Given the situation, she didn’t have much choice.

She texted Helena, asking her to keep Dave talking about things he liked, anything to keep him from getting bored. Once people start to lose interest, waiting gets annoying, and that would ruin her plans.

About ten minutes later, Theresia made it back to the advanced track and met up with Helena. She was dressed head to toe in black riding gear. The vest hugged her slim frame and the helmet, snug on her head, made her features look even sharper.

“Dave, I’m ready,” she called out.

There was no denying how stunning she looked. Jared was especially caught off guard. His eyes weren’t just appreciative anymore. Now there was a heat there, the kind that only happens when a man looks at a woman he wants.

He and Theresia had been together for years. Jared always knew she was beautiful, but nothing ever happened between them, at least not anything scandalous. It wasn’t that Jared didn’t want more, it was that Theresia wouldn’t let him. Back then, he’d loved her enough to respect that.

Then Patti came along. She flirted with him, showed him a different side of things, and Jared started thinking Theresia was too uptight, too old-fashioned. Eventually, he lost her for good.

Now, regret twisted inside him. He found himself edging closer to Theresia, unable to help it, but Helena stepped in just in time.

“Hey, Jared, give her some space.”

Jared felt a sting of embarrassment, but he managed to keep it together. He looked over. “Dave, you don’t mind if I join in, do you?”

Horse racing was always better with more people anyway. Dave just shrugged. “Not at all. Teresa, what about you?”

Of course she minded.

But Theresia just smiled politely. “Whatever works for everyone.”

Theresia grabbed a handful of mane near the saddle, steadied herself, left foot in the stirrup, then pushed off with her right and swung herself up in one smooth motion.

The three of them lined up, Dave taking the middle spot.

Right before they started, Dave looked over. “Teresa, safety comes first, okay? If it gets to be too much, don’t try to tough it out.”

Theresia nodded, totally sincere. “Don’t worry, Dave. I care about my life more than anyone.”

There was something about the way she carried herself, so open and easygoing, that made Dave’s first impression of her really positive.

The starter pistol fired. Theresia pulled the reins short, keeping a tight grip as she leaned forward over the horse’s neck. Even though she picked up speed quickly, her horse stayed perfectly steady under her hands.
