He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 134

Garry kept quiet, but Warren jumped in right away. “Teresa, with the way you’re feeling right now, you really shouldn’t be running around. Why not just rest for the night? Meeting Dave can wait until tomorrow.”

Theresia had already made up her mind and nothing Warren said could change it. “I don’t have that kind of time. Besides, this is the best chance I’ll get.”

She and Helena headed into the elevator. Garry stayed outside, watching Theresia as the doors slid shut between them. Their eyes met right up until the last moment.

Warren looked puzzled. “Garry, why didn’t you stop her?”

Garry slipped his hands into his pockets, the corners of his serious expression softening into a small smile. “Do you really think I could stop her?”

Warren had to admit, probably not.

Garry just couldn’t bring himself to force her into anything. More than that, he never wanted to go against her wishes.

Warren grumbled to himself, thinking, If Teresa decided she wanted to kill someone, Garry would probably just quietly hand her the knife.

He finally spoke up. “Garry, do you want to help Teresa out? She’s got a huge funding gap right now.”

Garry turned away and walked on, sounding casual. “No need. She doesn’t want my help.”

Warren was shocked. “Seriously? I heard JPMorgan’s loans are super strict. They’re the hardest in the world to get approved for. And Dave? He’s not exactly easy to deal with. Are you sure Teresa can handle this?”

A faint grin tugged at Garry’s lips, that easy confidence of his matching Theresia’s. “You don’t give her enough credit.”

He remembered how Teresa, just a kid back then, had pulled him out of the hands of human traffickers. If she could handle that, something like this wouldn’t even slow her down.

Helena glanced over, catching Theresia’s sunny smile, and teased, “Theresia, I think Garry’s totally your type. Why not go after him?”

Helena honestly thought they’d make a great couple.

The first time she’d seen Garry, he’d seemed oddly familiar. Back at the elevator, she finally realized why. He was the handsome guy who couldn’t take his eyes off Theresia at her welcome dinner.

There was no way anyone could convince Helena that Garry wasn’t interested in Theresia.

But Theresia’s smile faded, her mood shifting. “I’ve been in love. I’ve been married. In the end, it’s all the same.”

She turned to look out the window, a trace of sadness in her eyes. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe in love. She just didn’t think she’d ever be lucky enough to find it. Rather than throwing herself into something new and getting torn apart again, she’d rather live free and on her own terms.
