He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 136

“Of course.”

“But I can help you speed things up. I’ll have an answer for you by five tomorrow at the latest.”

Theresia was already thankful. Getting a loan from JPMorgan was never easy, but she trusted the paperwork she’d submitted. Her only real worry was whether there’d be enough time.

After saying goodbye to Dave, Helena drove her back to the hospital.

Theresia texted Naomi, letting her know she’d be out of town for a few days and asking her to take care of herself. Then she tried to persuade Helena to go home and get some rest, telling her the injuries weren’t serious and she could handle things alone.

Helena only left after making Theresia promise to take it easy.

By lunchtime the next day, Theresia got a call from Dave. The loan was approved, though they’d only agreed to two hundred sixty million. The last forty million would be much easier to pull together. She reached out to Farris and Frank, borrowing twenty million from each and promising to pay them back at standard bank rates. In just one day, she’d managed to pull together the full three hundred million.

On the other side of town, Lawrence got word of what happened. He sat in his chair, staring at nothing for so long the cigarette burned right down to his fingers before he snapped out of it.

Aaron stood nearby, watching Lawrence’s face darken, not daring to say a word.

After a long silence, Lawrence finally stood up. His expression wasn’t as icy as Aaron had imagined. “I didn’t think she could pull off a JPMorgan loan that fast. I wonder how many surprises she’s still hiding from me.”

He felt frustrated, but also torn. He was happy for Theresia, and even a little proud she was his wife.

Aaron spoke up carefully. “So, about the wharf… are we just letting that go?”

Lawrence would never go head-to-head with Theresia, but walking away completely didn’t feel like him either. He knew exactly how important Kingsport was.

She figured it was Garry calling back and answered without even checking. “Garry?”

There was a pause, then a familiar voice grumbled, “Garry? Teresa, what’s wrong with you?”

Theresia glanced at the screen. It was Farris. For some reason, she felt a little disappointed. “You’re the one acting weird. What’s up?”

Farris chuckled. “Teresa, seeing as I just lent you twenty million, how about you come with me to an event tonight?”

“What kind of event needs a plus one?”

“A charity auction. My mom told me to buy you something and make sure to show my face.”
