He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 199

“But that’s not something he can just deny and make disappear,” Theresia said, her voice tight with frustration. “There’s a fortune tied up in those weapons and ammo. Acton could never afford that on his own.”

Hanson let out a weary sigh. “Exactly. Everyone knows Acton’s just a front, but he won’t give up any names. As long as he keeps his mouth shut, there’s no way to connect this back to Lawrence. The car crash and that hospital scandal from three years ago aren’t enough to put him away for good.”

Lawrence was always careful. He’d never let anyone get their hands on anything that could bring him down, unless he had something even bigger to hold over them.

“Does Acton have any family left?”

Hanson sounded like he already knew where she was going. “His parents died years ago. His wife passed away after giving birth. The only family he’s got is a daughter, and she’s studying overseas.”

Theresia frowned. “What about the daughter?”

Hanson’s voice dropped. “She’s missing.”

That was it. Lawrence had the daughter. That was how he was keeping Acton silent.

Theresia pressed her lips together, her brow furrowed deeper than ever. She’d spent so long planning, so much effort, and now everything was falling apart. It felt unfair, almost cruel.

After hanging up with Hanson, she stood outside the hospital room for a long time, her mind racing, that deep crease never leaving her forehead.

She didn’t sleep a wink that night. By morning, dark circles framed her tired eyes. Naomi noticed right away and made her lie down for a bit.

Theresia barely managed a short nap before her phone rang. The police wanted her to come in and go over a few more details from the old case.

She told Naomi she had to run and hurried to the station.

It took most of the morning. By the time she finished giving her statement and stepped outside, it was already noon.

He noticed her watching. Their eyes met in the mirror.

Theresia held her breath and quietly reached for her phone. Before she could even unlock it, the driver pulled down his mask and smirked at her. “I’ve got a signal jammer in here. You can’t call for help.”

It was Lawrence.

Without thinking, Theresia lunged for the door handle, but it was locked tight. She was trapped.

She clamped her hand over her nose and mouth, doing her best not to breathe in the strange scent filling the car.

What now? Lawrence was right in front of her. Was this her chance, or just another trap?

Lawrence’s voice cut through the tension. “Why is Garry helping you?” he asked, his tone low and dangerous. “What’s your connection to him?”
