It was late, the city quiet and still. Theresia was dumped in the back seat of a car, out cold. Patti shot her a look, then slammed the door shut with a little too much force.
Patti jumped into the driver’s seat and hit the gas, not looking back.
Half an hour later, the car rolled to a stop in front of a hotel. Patti glanced in the rearview mirror. Her lips curled into a smug, satisfied smile. “You asked for this, Theresia. You just had to get in my way. But hey, at least you’re useful for something. Have fun tonight.”
She grabbed her phone and dialed. “I’m outside. Come get her.”
Honestly, Patti hadn’t planned to show up herself, but the memory of Theresia humiliating her was still fresh. She wanted to be here, to see it happen with her own eyes, to film Theresia’s downfall and finally get her revenge.
Five minutes later, a middle-aged man swaggered out of the hotel. The moment he spotted the woman waiting by the car, he headed straight for her.
She wore a mask, a crisp white shirt, and pale blue jeans, looking casual and calm. The man eyed her up and down. “She’s in the car?”
The woman nodded.
He yanked open the back door and immediately saw the beautiful woman sprawled across the seat, unconscious. Pale, flawless skin, delicate features, makeup perfectly done—she really was a stunner.
He grinned, eyes greedy. Without bothering to look at anyone else, he dragged Theresia out of the car and into his arms.
He was practically buzzing with excitement, barely able to contain himself. He glanced at the woman by the car. “Don’t worry, I’ll do exactly what you asked.”
She just hummed in response.
Jared’s face was thunderous. He turned and slapped the woman across the face. “Patti, you’re unbelievable. Lawrence dumped you, and now you’re sinking this low?”
That’s right—the woman dragged upstairs was Patti.
Patti tried to explain, but the words got tangled in her throat. She clung to Jared’s sleeve. “Jared, please, listen to me. It’s not what it looks like.”
The other man wasn’t done. He picked up his clothes from the floor, slipping them back on, and kept smirking.
“You’d better keep an eye on her,” he said in a lazy drawl. “Otherwise, who knows who she’ll sleep with next. You caught her with me tonight... but just imagine how many others you missed.”
Patti glared at him, her eyes wild, then lunged at him, yelling, “Shut up! Just shut up!”
