He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 84

Theresia took a deep breath and tried to steady herself. She patted her cheeks, forcing her nerves to settle.

Just like Garry said, the hospital made it official at noon. They announced that Webb hadn’t survived and was pronounced dead at 12:15. Webb’s parents rushed in that afternoon. Theresia went to meet them herself.

They were just regular people, simple and hardworking. Seeing them made her understand why they’d said no when Webb wanted to study abroad. If they’d had the money, of course they would have given him every opportunity. They just couldn’t make it happen.

Theresia told them the truth right away. At first, they were shocked. When they realized Webb was actually safe, they started crying, hugging each other as the relief washed over them. They agreed to help Theresia with her plan, ready to play along at the hospital so Lawrence would believe everything.

The accident report came out at the same time. According to it, the truck driver had been exhausted and fell asleep at the wheel right in front of Silverpine’s main gate. That’s why he lost control and crashed.

But the profile Garry handed her told a different story. The driver had no family, no partner, no kids. He owed over a million in gambling debts. He had absolutely nothing to lose.

Theresia couldn’t help but give a cold little laugh when she read it. “He really knows how to pick his people.”

Garry shook his head. “That driver has nothing tying him down. You won’t get the truth out of him easily. And he’s not stupid. If he doesn’t say anything about who’s behind this, it’s just a traffic accident. Ten years in prison and he’s out. But if he admits to being hired, it’s murder. He knows which one is the better deal.”

Theresia gripped her purse tight. She promised herself that someday, Lawrence would pay for everything he’d done.

She ended up staying in Silverpine for five full days, sorting out everything for Webb. Once it was all taken care of, she booked herself a flight back to Harrisburg.

She boarded the plane with her suitcase, found her seat, and reached up to stow her luggage. Just as she started to lift it, someone else’s hand got there first.

She turned around, almost bumping into Garry’s chest. Embarrassed, she took a step back and watched him slide her suitcase into the overhead bin. Then she remembered to say hello. “Wow, Garry. What are the odds? You’re on this flight too?”

Garry’s feelings for Theresia ran deep—deeper than most people could imagine. If it weren’t for his strange illness, he never would have spent all these years quietly watching over her, never daring to say a word.

Poor Garry. Why did things have to be this way? Warren could only sigh again.

Just before takeoff, while the flight attendants were reminding everyone to turn off their phones, Theresia’s screen lit up with a message from Webb.

She glanced at it and couldn’t help but smile.

“What’s got you grinning like that?”
