"But there is one thing I need to make absolutely clear," Yardley warned, his voice dropping dangerously low. "You can play dress-up as a CEO all you want, but you will not drag Scarlett down with your inevitable failure."
"Yes, she has an incredible gift for design. I don't doubt that she might even surpass you one day to become a top-tier architect. But she is a mother. She is my daughter's mother. She needs to prioritize raising my child. I pray you don't drag her into a financial abyss."
"I have already provided enough money to guarantee their financial security for the rest of their lives. But if your idiotic business decisions jeopardize the stability of her and my daughter's future, I swear I will destroy you!"
With that, Yardley shot a threatening glare at Julian, his jaw tight.
Then, his face like thunder, he turned on his heel to leave.
After so long, he felt he had finally gained the upper hand in a confrontation with his rival. As he turned away, a dark sense of satisfaction flickered in his chest.
But just as he took his first step, Julian's steady, resolute voice hit him in the back.
"I take full responsibility for all my decisions."
"Furthermore, there's no need for you to keep reminding me that Dawn is your daughter."
"Because as of now, Dawn is my daughter too."
"Scarlett has already agreed to let Dawn accept me as her godfather. My parents are officially her god-grandparents."
Julian delivered the news with perfect composure. There wasn't a trace of gloating in his tone; he was simply stating a fact.
But to Yardley, the words hit like a physical blow. His eyes widened in sheer panic, and he whipped around to stare at Julian in absolute disbelief.
"What the hell did you just say?"
"By what right does my daughter call you her godfather? By what right are your parents her family?"
"I do not agree to this!"
