"How dare you! Who do you think you are, publicly questioning our integrity and insulting the character of everyone in this room?!"
"I'll have our lawyers sue you for defamation before you even leave the building!"
Veronica had always been an arrogant, fearless brat. She just laughed harder.
"I stand by what I said. I am the daughter of Quentin Thorne, the president of the Sutton City Real Estate Association, and the VP of Thorne Industries!"
"Our elections are strictly regulated. We don't play silly little games like you're doing here."
The sheer contempt in her voice was staggering.
Watching her act so high and mighty, Scarlett felt a wave of physical disgust.
Her unbearable arrogance and innate sense of superiority were a perfect mirror of Yardley's.
Scarlett's lips curved into a freezing smile. Her voice was like crushed ice.
"And what exactly makes you think this is a game?"
"The entire election process was completely legal, compliant, and transparent. Everyone here witnessed it."
"Veronica, insult me all you want, but watch your mouth when it comes to the people in this room. Most of the executives here are highly respected elders in our industry. I suggest you choose your next words very carefully."
This fight actually had absolutely nothing to do with Veronica.
She was just here as a guest representing her family's company.
But she saw this as the perfect opportunity to show off and prove her loyalty to Yardley.
Since Scarlett was his ex-wife, he couldn't openly tear her down without looking petty and unmanly.
So she was more than happy to be his attack dog and fire the shots for him.
A woman like Scarlett needed to be put in her place.
