He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 552

Julian smiled and drove them back to Claire Campbell's place. Throughout the car ride, Skye chattered away endlessly. Helena listened with endless patience, responding warmly to every little thought the girl shared.

Meanwhile, Sebastian stood holding Kyle, his gaze lingering quietly on a car parked not too far away. License plates in Coralia were custom-registered, making it hard to track ownership, but Sebastian recognized this one instantly. It was Julian's car. The plate was far too conspicuous: SW520. It was a blatant declaration of Julian's love for Helena Wallace. It went without saying exactly who that message was for.

Sebastian thought of Helena, the formidable CEO of IGM. For some inexplicable reason, a deep restlessness stirred in his chest. After a long moment, he lowered his gaze, carefully masking his turbulent emotions.

"Sebastian?" Janetta called out, noticing his distraction. He finally turned his attention to her. Without a word, he leaned in to buckle Kyle securely into his car seat.

"What were you looking at?" Janetta asked suddenly.

"Nothing," Sebastian replied. His tone was characteristically cold, though not outright hostile. He never picked fights with Janetta in front of Kyle—a boundary she was perfectly aware of.

"Sebastian, since we've already postponed our flight back to Riverton, why don't we take Kyle to Seapearl City? Riverton only has the river, no ocean, and Kyle really wants to visit the beach." Janetta initiated the request, cleverly using their son as leverage.

Her current relationship with Sebastian was lukewarm at best, but Kyle remained incredibly important to him. And it was true that the boy loved the ocean.

Unfortunately, his fragile health meant he rarely got the chance to go. This trip to Coralia had been a rare exception, originally planned for Disneyland, but then Kyle had fallen ill.

Of course, Janetta knew perfectly well that her true motive had nothing to do with taking Kyle to Seapearl City. What the boy actually wanted had never mattered to her.

"You want to go?" Sebastian asked softly.

Kyle nodded earnestly. "Yeah, I really do."

He wasn't lying. He had been cooped up in hospitals for far too long, jumping from wards in Riverton to beds in Coralia. They had come all this way for Disneyland, only to completely miss out.

But there was another reason for wanting to visit Seapearl City. During his hospital stay, he had made a wonderful friend—a little girl named Skye. She had told him she was heading to the coast there as soon as she was discharged. Skye had described the sparkling shores with such excitement that Kyle couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy.
