Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Lyra stopped Jane. “Wait, Jane.”
She pulled out another card from her pocket. “Soul Deck, Release.”
White light flashed, and Ivana’s soul drifted out of the card. Her golden hair swayed in the gray mist, her blue/eyes swept over the dense Ghost Wall, and after a stunned beat, she lit up with excitement.
“Are we going after more Wraiths again? That’s awesome.” Ivana exclaimed.
“Nope,” Lyra cut her off, not letting Ivana even catch her breath. “Hey, Ivana, got a favor to ask.”
Ivana glanced away from the Ghost Walls. “What do you need?”
“Jane’s about to try passing her Soul Power to another soul. The ones trapped in the Ghost Walls are out cold, so they can’t tell us anything,” Lyra explained.
Lyra pointed at Ivana. “But you’re different. You’re awake, you can talk, and you can let us know what it feels like.”
Ivana blinked twice, then looked at Jane.
Jane nodded. “I’m about to pass my Soul Power to you. I need you to work with me.”
“Alright,” Ivana said right away. “What do I need to do?”
“Just stand still. Jane will pass her Soul Power to you, and just let us know what you feel, Lyra instructed.
Ivana’s soul drifted over to stand across from Jane, the two souls barely an arm’s length apart.
Jane raised her right hand, palm facing forward, aiming it at Ivana’s chest.
Soul Power surged from her fingertips, visible strands flowing straight toward Ivana.
One second.
Two seconds.
Jane’s expression changed. Her brows tightened, then eased. She wondered, ‘Did it work?”
“Did it go in?” Lyra leaned in.
“I felt it,” Jane said, pulling her hand back. “My Soul Power left my palm and entered her body.”
Lyra whipped around to Ivana. “And you? Did you feel anything?”
1
Ivana looked down at her chest, a little embarrassed.
“Yeah, I felt it,” Ivana said.
“So, did it work?” Lyra asked.
“But…” Ivana hesitated. “I just instinctively absorbed it. Does that still count?”
Lyra froze.
“When Jane’s Soul Power got close, my body just pulled it in automatically. I couldn’t control it,” Ivana explained.

Jane nodded. “Yeah, something felt off. The flow was way too smooth, like she was pulling it in herself.”
Lyra stepped back, tapping her chin. She thought, ‘Active absorption and passive reception are completely different.
The souls trapped in the Ghost Walls couldn’t even lift an eyelid, there was no way they could actively absorb anything.
“Ivana,” Lyra called.
“Yeah?” Ivana replied.
“Let’s try again. This time, don’t do anything. Don’t absorb it, don’t accept it, don’t react at all. Just be like a rock, Lyra instructed.
Ivana slapped her face and took a deep breath. “Alright, I’ll give it a shot.”
The two souls stood face-to-face again. Jane raised her hand, letting Soul Power stream out from her palm.
Ivana closed her eyes, cleared her mind, and neither resisted nor welcomed the energy.
Five seconds passed.
Ten seconds passed.
Jane’s brows knitted together. “It won’t go in.”
Lyra asked, “What do you mean?”
“The Soul Power is swirling right outside her body, but it just can’t penetrate,” Jane said.
Ivana opened her eyes. “I can feel something swirling around me, kind of itchy, but it’s definitely not coming in.”
Lyra couldn’t help but grimace.
Last time, Ivana took it in herself, and it went through.
This time, since Ivana didn’t absorb it, the Soul Power just wouldn’t go in.
Jane, try pushing harder, Lyra suggested.
Jane doubled the flow of Soul Power from her palm, letting it wash over Ivana, but it just broke apart and scattered
It scattered.
It was like splashing water on glass, it didn’t stick at all, just slipped right off.
“Nope,” Jane said, pulling her hand back. “It’s not about force, it’s about finding a way in. I just can’t figure out where the entry point is.”
Third try.
Lyra had Ivana turn around with her back to Jane, and Jane tried channeling her Soul Power from behind.
Still no luck, it just wouldn’t go in.
Fourth try, Jane tried sending her Soul Power in through Ivana’s mouth and nose, but it still wouldn’t go in.
Fifth try.
Lyra had them press their palms together, no gap at all.

Chapter 125
Jane tried to channel her Soul Power through her palm, while Ivana kept her palm firmly against Jane’s.
Three seconds later, Jane pulled her hand back and shook her head. “Even with our hands touching like this, it still won’t go
in.”
Ivana rubbed her palm. “My palm’s tingling, I can definitely feel it, but no matter what, it just won’t go in
Lyra’s soul drifted in the air, her mind racing as she tried to figure it out.
Lyra thought, ‘Something is off.
She wondered, ‘But what exactly is wrong?”
Jane could absorb the energy from the Wraiths. That was her doing it herself, taking the initiative.
When Jane was inside the Soul Deck, she just took it in passively, letting it happen.
And when she was being nurtured, she was actually inside the Soul Deck!
“Jane,” Lyra called.
Jane looked at her.
“When you were inside the Soul Deck getting nurtured, you weren’t doing anything, just letting it happen, right?” Lyra asked.
“Yeah,” Jane replied.
“So when you were inside the Soul Deck, you just stayed there and did nothing, and the Soul Power just flowed in by itself?” Lyra asked.
“Yeah,” Jane replied.
“Do you know how the Soul Power got in? Like, which way or from where?” Lyra pressed.
Jane paused, then looked down at her palm. “I… I just remember it felt good. I didn’t really notice the exact path.”
Lyra clapped her hands. “Alright, let’s send you back in and see if you can really feel it this time.”
“Back into the Soul Deck?” Jane asked.
“Yep, I’ll put you back in. Just stay awake and focus. Notice exactly where the Soul Power comes in, how it moves through you, what it feels like. Don’t miss a thing,” Lyra said.
Jane nodded. “Alright.”
“Fifteen minutes,” Lyra said, holding up a finger. “I’ll let you out in fifteen minutes. You tell me what you felt. If it still doesn’t work, we’ll head out of the mist and try again outside.”
She glanced down at the flare on her waist, only one green one leff.
“What’s wrong?” Jane asked, following her gaze.
“We’ve only got one flare left. We’re running out of time,” Lyra said.
Jane didn’t waste any time. “Let’s do it.”
“Soul Deck, Seal,” Lyra said.
A flash of white light, and Jane’s soul was sucked into the card, her image frozen on the surface.
