Chapter 134
Chapter 134
[All contestants are ready.]
[This round’s mission is: Level 2 Mission Endless Maze.]
Lil Lily gave Lyra’s hand a little shake. “Goddess Lyra, it’s a maze.”
Lyra squeezed her fingers back, saying nothing. A maze meant they’d be split up. The game really wasn’t going to make things easy for them.
“Lyra!” Lina came running over from the right, grinning.
“Shh.” Lyra put a finger to her lips. She figured the rules were about to change again.
Lina instantly zipped her lips and sidled up next to Lyra, ears perked for whatever was coming.
[The rules for this round have changed.]
[1. All treasure chests are already in the maze. No more will appear.]
[2. Everyone has to find at least one chest before the game ends, or you’re dead.]
[3. Every ten minutes, the maze shifts, rooms get shuffled.]
[4. You get thirty minutes to hide. Hunters have three hours to track you down.]
[Enjoy dying, everyone.]
As the announcement ended, the mission entrance appeared before everyone.
Lyra lowered her gaze. If they didn’t find a chest, they died. If they did, they exposed themselves. With the maze shifting too, she thought, “This game is cornering us.
Lyra turned and saw Lydia and Sergei had arrived. “Listen up. This round is probably going to split us up.”
Lina’s smile faded, and Lydia frowned.
“I don’t know how or when it’ll happen, so we’re going in holding hands,” Lyra said.
Lyra pulled three blank cards from her pocket and handed them out. “Hold onto these. I can sense where they are, so don’t
lose them.”
Lydia took the card, tucked it into her inner pocket, then drew Shadowcleaver and gave it a little toss. “Lyra, don’t worry
about me.”
She flipped the blade in her hand. “If I run into any Wraiths, I’ll finally get to test out this new blade.”
Sergei slipped the card into his shirt pocket. “Thanks, Lyra.”
Lina pressed the card to her chest, then touched the Shield Pendant around her neck and the Sacrifice Mask in her pocket. “I’m good too! I’ve got the Shield Pendant and the mask, ten layers of protection!”
Then she glanced at Lil Lily, worry in her eyes.
Lil Lily pulled the Six-Faced Heart Die from her pocket and spun it in her palm. “I’m good too.”
Lyra didn’t say anything else. Most of the other contestants had already left. It looked like none of the newly drawn players

this round were from their countries.
“Let’s go. Lyra said.
Lyra reached out her hand. Lil Lily grabbed her right, Lina took Lil Lily’s right, Lydia took Lyra’s left, and Sergeytook Lydia’s left.
The five of them formed a chain and walked toward the mission entrance.
The moment they stepped inside, a sudden force tore them apart.
Lyra’s fingers were forced apart, Lil Lily’s hand slipped from her palm, and Lydia’s hand was wrenched away, all so fast the barely had time to react.
Her vision went black, and when her sight returned, Lyra found herself alone in a room with a door on each wall. Not a sou in sight.
She closed her eyes, trying to sense where the blank cards were.
One was to the northwest.
Another to the northeast.
One to the west.
And one to the south.
“Looks like we’re really scattered,” Lyra muttered, opening her eyes with a wry smile. She thought, ‘This game is rotten to the
core.
She pulled the Soul Deck from her pocket. “Soul Deck, release.”
Ten beams of white light shot out at once, and suddenly the room was so crowded with souls there was barely any space left.
Jane glanced around. “So we really got split up, huh?”
“Yeah, we’re split up,” Lyra said, tucking the cards back into her pocket. “Jane, you and the others split up and go look for them, Lina, Lydia, Sergei, and Lil Lily. You’ve seen them before, so you know who to find.”
Jane nodded and turned to the other nine souls. “You heard her. Split up and get moving. If you find anyone, bring them back ASAP.”
The souls quickly formed four groups and floated off toward the four doors.
Jane stayed right by Lyra’s side. “Lyra, luckily everyone’s leveled up now, so we can keep a bit more distance from you. Otherwise, with the distance limit, it would’ve been a real hassle.”
Lyra nodded and looked up at her. “Aren’t you going to go look for them?”
“I’m sticking with you,” Jane said, her tone leaving no room for argument. “You can’t be alone in this maze without any souls to scout ahead. That’s way too dangerous.”
Lyra didn’t argue. She just nodded.
She started checking out the room. On all four walls, the countdown was ticking down: [Hiding time left: 25 minutes, 18 seconds, 17 seconds…]
A table, a cabinet, and a bed, just enough to hide behind.

The room had places to hide, but the rule was clear: no chest meant death. The game was telling them not to hide foreing everyone out into the maze.
Lyra opened the cabinet, empty. She crouched down and knocked on the bottom, solid, no hollow sound. She checked under the bed, nothing. Then she went around knocking on each wall, solid all the way.
“No chest in here,” Lyra said, standing up and dusting off her hands.
Jane slipped through the wall, took a quick spin outside, and floated back. “It’s just room after room out there, each one set up differently.”
Lyra nodded. “Jane, can you look ahead for me and help find a chest? If I have to check every room myself, it’ll take forever.”
“Sure thing. Jane said.
Lyra took out Wraithslayer and scratched a [1] onto the wall.
