Chapter 163

Her voice didn’t reach outside; only she and the game could hear it.

Lil Lily muttered to herself, “One’s for staying alive, but what about the other? Goddess Lyra never mentioned u

[S Tier survival items have been identified.]

[Optimal combo items have been identified.]

Lil Lily froze. She hadn’t expected her muttering to actually trigger a response from the game. She glanced up, only to ind the S Tier prize pool had been rearranged.

The items that used to be all jumbled together were now sorted into three mini pools.

At the top were the other S Tier items. The middle pool, outlined in blue, was packed with survival gear. And at the yery bottom, outlined in red, sat just two S Tier items.

Lil Lily stared at the two pools, then glanced back outside the beam of light. She couldn’t see Goddess Lyra anywhere.

“Huh…” Lil Lily muttered. ‘Is the game actually this thoughtful?’

Lil Lily thought, ‘It actually organized everything for me? Even picked out the best combo?’

Lil Lily’s eyes landed on the blue-bordered pool first. She went through the survival items one by one.

Decoy Charm? Nah, only good for blocking a single physical hit.

Time-Reversal Hourglass? Nope, only lets you rewind three seconds, way too short,

Her hand paused over Escape Shell Charm.

[Escape Shell Charm: When you take fatal damage, you get teleported to safety, leaving a fake body behind to trick your enemies. Usable once per round.]

Lil Lily thought, “Teleport to safety and leave a decoy behind? The enemy thinks they’ve killed me, but I’m already gone.”

Her eyes lit up. This is awesome! Way better than the Decoy Charm. It doesn’t just block damage; it can fool the enemy too!”

She tapped on Escape Shell Charm and confirmed her choice.

Lil Lily thought, ‘First item, done.

She turned to the red-bordered pool, the game had handpicked the “best combo” for her, and there were only two items inside.

[Fate-Seeker Mirror: Lets you see every item a player currently owns. Usable once per round.)

[Shadowstep Ring: Makes you immune to all tracking and locating items. Passive effect, always on.]

Lil Lily scratched her head, eyeing the two items. Her gut told her the Fate-Seeker Mirror was way cooler, just the name alone sounded super badass.

Plus, it let her check out what other players had. Lil Lily thought, ‘Isn’t that what my teacher always said? Know yourself and your enemy, and you’ll never lose!’

Lil Lily thought, ‘Pick it! Pick it! Just pick it!’

S

Lil Lily thought. ‘No, no! The game’s shady. What if it’s just messing with me?’ She glanced back at the top pool and went through each item one by one.

None of the items that had already been taken were there, like the Rulebreaker Pen, Reversal Armor, or Soul Extinguisher

Lantern.

But there were still some that totally tempted her. The Spatial Ring could store items, so she wouldn’t have to hug everything around. Lil Lily thought. So tempting! I want that!”

The Mirage Wheel could twist space and light, creating massive illusions. Lil Lily thought, “That looks awesome! I want tha too!’

The Revival Token could bring back a player who’d died within the last ten minutes. Lil Lily thought. That’s so useful! Iwant that as well!’

The Thief’s Gloves could steal a random item from a chosen player. Lil Lily thought, ‘Ugh, I want that too!”

Lil Lily sighed. ‘Why can’t I grab a few more?’

Lil Lily thought, ‘Oh well, the second reward’s just a freebie anyway. Her eyes drifted back to the Fate-Seeker Mirror. She thought, ‘Might as well play along and give the game some credit.’

She reached out and tapped on the Fate-Seeker Mirror, confirming her choice.

Both items materialized at once. Escape Shell Charm became a small emerald charm and embedded itself in her forehead. while the Fate-Seeker Mirror appeared as a palm-sized hand mirror, its surface glowing darkly.

Just as Lil Lily clutched the mirror in her hand, the game’s voice echoed once more.

[As the sole surviving Hider, you can choose to conceal the broadcast about your bonus item.]

[Do you want to hide it?]

Lil Lily’s eyes darted around. “Yes!”

[Please choose which item to hide.]

Lil Lily thought for a moment. Goddess Lyra had told her to pick a survival item. If Escape Shell Charm was announced, everyone would know she had a way to survive. That might keep trouble away.

But the Fate-Seeker Mirror was a different story. It let her peek at other people’s cards. If anyone found out, no one would want her anywhere near them.

“Hide the Fate-Seeker Mirror, Lil Lily said.

[Item hidden.]

Lil Lily slipped the hand mirror deep inside her shirt, gave her chest a satisfied pat, and strutted out of the beam of light.

The game’s announcement echoed outside.

[Congratulations to Draconia player Lily for selecting the S Tier reward: Escape Shell Charm!]

Only one item was announced. Lil Lily’s lips curled into a grin as she trotted back to Lyra. “Goddess Lyra!”

Lyra looked down at her. Lil Lily was grinning from ear to ear, hands cupped around her cheeks, practically bouncing with

excitement.

That look on her face said it all, she’d definitely picked something awesome.

“Golden Cicada Escape?” Lyra asked.

“Yeah!” Lil Lily nodded eagerly, tugging at Lyra’s sleeve and leaning in to whisper, “Goddess Lyra, I’ll tell you when we’re

back!”

“Alright,” Lyra said, a smile tugging at her lips. She gave Lil Lily’s head a gentle pat and didn’t press for more.

Lil Lily snickered twice, zipped her lips, and glanced around, not saying another word.

The nine of them stood at the mission entrance, all rewards handed out. For a few seconds, the place went quiet.
