Hide and Seek: The Mad Girl Sees All novel Chapter 164

Chapter 164

The door to the Monitoring Room swung open from the inside. Lyra stepped out first, with Lil Lily following close behind. her head peeking out from behind Lyra’s waist as she looked around.

People were lined up in the hallway, waiting.

“Dad! Mom!” Lil Lily called out.

Jenna Sterling’s eyes were red, both excited and worried. Lil Lily’s father gripped Jenna’s shoulders, his lips/quivering. As long as you’re back, that’s all that matters…”

Lana looked Lyra up and down, then Lil Lily, checking for any injuries. She finally breathed out, relieved.

“Lyra, Lil Lily, you two did great,” Lana said.

Lil Lily gave a cheeky grin, puffing out her chest with pride.

“Lyra, Lil Lily, do you want to eat first and get some energy back?” Garrett asked.

Lyra shook her head. “Uncle Garrett, let’s hold off on eating for now. Let’s have a meeting first. I’m still a bit confused about some things this round, and I want to figure it out together with everyone.”

Lil Lily tugged at Lyra’s sleeve. “Goddess Lyra! I have something to say too!”

“You got something new to share, Lil Lily?” Lyra asked.

“Yeah!” Lil Lily nodded eagerly, her voice bursting with excitement. “It’s super important!”

Seeing this, Lana turned to Garrett and said, “Get everyone from the Analysis Team, Tech Team, and Think Tank together. We’re meeting in the conference room.”

“Got it!” Garrett replied.

Lana then looked at Lil Lily’s parents. “Ms. Sterling, Mr. Sterling, we need to hold a meeting first. Once we’re done, we’ll bring Lil Lily back to you.”

“Of course, of course! Yes, that’s right, let’s get down to business first. We’re not in a hurry,” Jenna said quickly.

“Mom, Dad, you two go home and be good, wait for me there, okay? I’ll come back as soon as I’m done with the meeting. Lil Lily said, pretending to be all serious but making a funny face at her parents.

“You little rascal! Alright, Lil Lily’s father said with a laugh.

Draconia Strategic Command, conference room.

At the Command Center, in the conference room, Lyra sat in her usual spot, with Lil Lily right next to her.

“Who’s going first?” Lana asked, flipping open her notebook.

“I’ll go first. There’s something off about Alex, Lyra said.

Lana’s pen paused for a moment.

“I killed him once in the mission. I stabbed him in the neck with a poison needle, dead in five seconds. Clara even confirmed he was dead.” Lyra said.

Garrett jumped in, “But he showed up alive at the settlement scene.”

Chapter 164

“Yeah. Lyra nodded.

The game never announced his death, so I thought he must’ve used some kind of item. But at the settlement scene, after I’d taken everything he had, he didn’t even choose a life-saving item. That just doesn’t add up.” Lyra said.

“Someone who just got killed and even threatened to settle things with me to the death, how could he not pick a life-saving item?” Lyra added.

Ms. Reed was the first to speak up. “If he didn’t pick one, it means he doesn’t need it.”

“Yeah. Lyra nodded. “He’s still got some kind of backup to keep himself alive, and whatever it is, Clara couldn’t find it anywhere on him.”

Garrett frowned. “So it’s like your Veilmist, an item that’s bound to you? Can’t be taken or removed?”

“Pretty much, Lyra replied.

Lana made a note on her paper. “Do you know what it is?”

“No idea,” Lyra said, leaning back in her chair. “But I’m sure about its effect, it can block fatal damage, and it makes him vanish from the game’s surveillance.”

“Me!” Lil Lily shot her hand up. “I think I know the reason!”

Everyone turned to her. Lil Lily grinned and pulled a mirror out from under her jacket.

“This is what I wanted to talk about! The game gave me two S Tier items, and this one’s a bonus that can be hidden, so I made sure the game didn’t announce it,” Lil Lily said.

“It’s called the Fate-Seeker Mirror, and it lets you check every item a player owns!” Lil Lily added.

Lana was the first to react. “You mean, it can see every single item?”

“Yeah!” Lil Lily held the Fate-Seeker Mirror up for everyone to see. “Just think of a player’s name, and you can see all the items they have, even the hidden ones!”

Garrett stood up from his chair. “This thing…”

Ms. Reed pushed up her reading glasses. “That’s a real treasure! Lil Lily, you really know how to pick ’em!”

Lil Lily giggled, flipping the Fate-Seeker Mirror back and forth in her hands, showing it off to everyone. Its surface was murky and dim, with intricate patterns etched around the edges, nothing obvious, but it definitely had an air of mystery.

“Lil Lily, why did the game give you an extra item? And why didn’t it announce it?” Lana tapped her pen on the paper. When Alex got

his items doubled, the game made a big deal out of it for everyone to see.

“Because I was the only Hider who made it out alive!” Lil Lily said, holding her chin up high.

Lil Lily held the mirror in both hands, flashing a smug grin. “Out of forty Hiders, I was the last one standing! The game rewarded me for it!”

“And that’s not all!” Lil Lily turned to Lyra. “The game even organized everything for me, put all the life-saving items in their own section, and picked out the best setup! This is it!”

“It helped you pick?” Lyra blinked in surprise. The game was actually being nice for once?’

“Yeah! I was just mumbling to myself, like, ‘I’ll pick a life-saving item, but what about the other one?’ And boom, the game just picked it out for me!” Lil Lily said, grinning from ear to ear.

Chapter 164

“Wait, the game can actually interact with you?” Garrett looked genuinely surprised. He had never heard of that happening.

“No idea.” Lyra shook her head. “Before, it was all random, whatever the game gave you, you just took it. Even this time, I didn’t try talking to the game or anything, so I never realized it could respond.”

Ms. Reed frowned. “It’s more than just simple communication, the game actually optimized her choices. Remember that time Lyra was drawing items, and it kept bouncing between D Tier and S Tier? Back then, the Chief Advisor guessed the game might have two sides.”

“And now, with the game giving Lil Lily the perfect combo this round, one that just so happens to let her check out Alex’s items, I’m really starting to think the Chief Advisor was onto something.” Ms. Reed added.

“But at the same time, the game gave some Hunters cheat sheets to target her.” Garrett frowned, clearly puzzled. It almost felt like the game was sabotaging itself.

“No, the one hunting Lil Lily wasn’t the game, it was Alex,” Lyra said, pulling out the handwritten cheat sheet and laying it on the table.

“I got this from Alex. It’s a handwritten hit list he made for the Hunters. All the cheat sheets the other players got came from this,” Lyra explained.

Lil Lily’s grin vanished, and she glared at the paper with a pout. “Why did he put me on the list?”

Lyra tilted her head at her. “Maybe he figured you were the easiest target.”

“I’m not easy to bully!” Lil Lily insisted, then scrunched up her nose. “He’s such a jerk!”

“Let’s see what he’s hiding!” Lil Lily said, puffing up with determination. “If he wants to mess with me, I’ll mess with him right back!”

Everyone’s eyes were on Lil Lily, curious to see what Alex’s secret survival item was

Lil Lily lifted the Fate-Seeker Mirror and stared into its surface. In her mind, she silently recited, ‘Fate-Seeker Mirror, reveal the items of Aurelia player Alex.

A faint glow rippled across the mirror’s surface.

“It’s moving! It’s moving!” Lil Lily squealed.

Light spread out from the center of the mirror, peeling away the shadows bit by bit. Glowing words started to appear.

“It’s coming up! Goddess Lyra, quick, look!” Lil Lily called out.

Lil Lily hurriedly set the Fate-Seeker Mirror flat on the table so everyone could see.
