Chapter 180

Lina nodded, her expression finally relaxing. “Okay.”

Yelena let out a long sigh, her shoulders slumping. “Lina, you almost…” She didn’t finish, just shook her head.

“I’m sorry, Commander. I was too impatient,” Lina said, lowering her head.

“Lina, you don’t need to apologize. The question itself wasn’t wrong. We just underestimated the price,” Yelena replied.

On the screen, Lana tapped her fingers on the desk twice, going over the information in her mind before speaking.

“That’s enough for today. Let’s summarize,” Lana said steadily. “The Sacrifice Mask can trade for information, the price seems tied to value, refusal is allowed, backing out costs one D Tier item or equivalent, it works once per day, and it cannoy change wishes.”

Lyra chimed in, “Lina, you’ve got six items left, but only two D Tier ones can be used as payment. Once you use them up. you’re out. So don’t ask now. Wait until you’ve saved up enough items.”

“The way to end the game…” Lina said quietly. “It must require an S Tier item, right?”

“More than that.” Lana’s tone grew serious. “It might need something above S Tier, or even more. You don’t have any S Tier items right now, so asking would just be a waste.”

Lina clenched her fists. “Got it. I won’t use it for now.”

The video conference ended, Southern Reach disconnected, but the line between Draconia Strategic Command and Lyra stayed open.

Lana looked at the two of them. “Lyra, Zoe, there’s one more thing.”

Lyra sat up straight. “What is it?”

“The Command Center is considering sharing the Vital Flame Cultivation method with the Alliance States,” Lana said.

Zoe paused. “Chief Advisor, that’s basically one of our core secrets.”

“Some in the military have already succeeded, so the method works,” Lana said. “Draconia is preparing to spread Vital Flame Cultivation nationwide. Once everyone starts training, the Alliance States will find out eventually.”

She leaned forward. “Instead of waiting for them to find out on their own, we should take the initiative to share it. Since we’re allies, it’s better for everyone to get stronger together.”

Lyra scrunched up her nose. “I don’t mind sharing it with Southern Reach, and the Alliance States is fine too, but if countries like Aurelia get their hands on it…” She didn’t finish, her face full of displeasure.

Ms. Reed noticed and spoke up to reassure her. “Lyra, don’t worry.”

She smiled. “The version we share will be in Draconian. If folks from other countries don’t really understand Draconian culture, they won’t even be able to make sense of the text, let alone figure out how the energy works.”

Lyra blinked, then broke into a grin. “Ms. Reed, you’re right! Lina will totally get it!”

Ms. Reed chuckled. “Once they learn it, you’ll be able to team up better in the game. You can’t always be the one holding the line alone, Lyra.”

Lana looked at the two of them on the screen. “So, is that settled? Lyra, do you have any other suggestions?”

Lyra thought for a moment, then shook her head. “No.”

“Ms. Reed’s right! It’s not just about the missions, even in the real world, only if everyone gets stronger can we really push back the Wraiths together. If it’s just us, it’s too much for us to deal with alone,” Lyra said.

“Alright, that’s settled then.” Lana nodded.

After the call ended, Lyra stretched lazily. “Alright, that’s done. We’ll head back into the Wraith zone this afternoon.”

She turned to Zoe with a grin. “Zoe, picking the team is all up to you!”

“No problem,” Zoe replied.

After lunch, Lyra didn’t bother with a break. She and Zoe headed out again, this time bringing along five fresh recruits. A always, the ten souls floated ahead into the Wraith mist, leading the way to the Ghost Wall.

“Snow!” Lyra waved. “We’re back!”

Snow nodded, a faint smile tugging at her lips, but she didn’t say anything right away.

Each of the ten souls transferred their soul power to Snow, one after another. When it was done, Snow hesitated, opening her mouth as if unsure.

Jane floated over to her. “What’s wrong, Snow? Did something come to mind?”

Snow shook her head. “No, I just heard something, a sound coming from deeper inside.”

She pointed toward the depths of the Invasion Zone. “After you all left this morning, not long after, I heard a roar. It was long and really deep.”

She frowned. “It didn’t sound anything like those Wraiths you took out earlier. This one was much heavier. I didn’t go investigate, so I have no idea what it was.”

Snow looked up at everyone. “You guys stay safe.”

Jane nodded. “Anything else catch your attention besides the sound?”

Snow thought for a moment, then shook her head. “No, that’s all.”

“Thanks, Snow. We’ll make sure to stay safe,” Jane replied.

The team pushed through the Wraith mist and stepped into the Invasion Zone. The outskirts were the same as always, ruins, broken stones, and a few stray Wraiths drifting around.

With the team covering them, the five newbies all managed to either kill or seriously wound a Wraith. But with some new, unexplained changes showing up in the Invasion Zone, Lyra refused to let them go any further.

“Clara, Ivana, you two escort the five of them out,” Lyra said.

Once the five newbies were safely out, the team picked up the pace. They pushed forward nearly two miles without running into anything unusual.

Lyra looked around carefully. “I can’t spot any changes here. Jane, can you check?”

Jane extended her soul power forward, then drew it back, frowning slightly. “Everything seems normal. The Wraith density

is about the same as usual, and there aren’t any big groups gathering.”

Lyra glanced up at the shadows of the distant ruins. “What was that roar, anyway?”

Jane paused, a hunch forming in her mind. “Lyra.”

“Yeah?” Lyra replied.

“Do you remember what I said right after you sealed me and then released me from the card?” Jane asked.
