Margaret, who hadn’t walked far, overheard his comment and marched right back in.

home.

“Mr. Vance, Mrs. Vance didn’t just start throwing up now! She’s been doing this ever since she got The doctor said it’s a symptom of a concussion!” Margaret raised her voice, deliberately driving the point home. “Mrs. Vance has a concussion because Theodore beat her!”

A dangerous, menacing look flashed across Silas’s eyes.

“Leave us, Margaret,” Silas ordered. “I need to talk to Jasmine alone. Don’t come back in until I tell you to.”

“Then make sure you look after her,” Margaret insisted. “She’s in a lot of pain.”

“I will,” Silas replied.

Once Margaret left, Silas pulled Jasmine into his arms. “How do you want me to make this up to you?”

Jasmine went completely rigid in his embrace. “You don’t have to.”

“I’ll transfer some money to your account in a little bit,” Silas said. “Use it to take care of yourself. I know taking care of Margaret must have cost you a lot, and you’re probably running low on cash.”

Jasmine knew he was right about that much; she really was broke. Intentionally testing him, she asked, “How much are you planning to send?”

“How much do you want?”

Jasmine held up two fingers. Knowing how stingy Silas usually was with her, she figured $200,000 would be his absolute limit for pocket money.

Instead, Silas let out a soft laugh. “Two hundred or two thousand?”

Jasmine rolled her eyes and pulled out of his embrace in frustration. “Just keep it.”

Silas’s expression softened, and he playfully ruffled her hair with an uncharacteristic touch of affection. “Twenty million. It’ll be in your account in a little bit.”

Twenty million!

Jasmine was stunned, wondering if she had misheard him. “Twenty million?”

Silas took her hand again. “Is that too much, or not enough?”

“I’m just surprised,” Jasmine said. “You’ve never given me that kind of money before.”

She realized Silas had been much more physically affectionate with her lately.

It seemed like he constantly wanted to be close to her, constantly wanted to touch her. Was this what physical attraction felt like to him?

“The past is the past,” Silas said. “What’s the point of a husband making money if his wife isn’t going to spend it?”

Jasmine internally gagged.

“I’ve already spoken with Felicity,” Silas continued. “As soon as she finishes her postpartum recovery. moving back into the house she shared with Julian.”

Jasmine blinked in surprise.

Did hell freeze over? What was Silas up to now?

she’s

“Felicity won’t be staying with us much longer,” Silas added. “So please, let’s stop making a scene over this alright?”

Unbelievable.

Jasmine finally found a reason to rip her hand away from his. “Why is it always me who’s ‘making a scene

“I know you’re upset,” Silas said. “But how could you claim Leo isn’t a Vance? Theodore only snapped and hit you because he felt cornered. He thought you were insulting his daughter. And Grandma and Mom were only angry because they felt you were insulting the family honor.”

Jasmine felt a sudden heaviness in her chest. She felt suffocated, desperate for a release. “So, when it comes down to it, it’s still my fault?”

“Then tell me why you’d make up a lie like that,” Silas pressed. “Unless you actually have proof?”

Jasmine stared at him, utterly speechless, her mind racing. Ultimately, she chose to stay silent. If Silas wanted to believe Felicity that badly, she would let him.

She couldn’t wait to see how he would react when he finally discovered he had been cuckolded all along.

Jasmine feigned exhaustion. “My head is really spinning. I think I need to sleep.”

Silas clearly wanted to stay longer, but his phone rang. It was Madeline. He muttered a couple of brief responses before hanging up.

“Grandma needs me,” Silas said.

Jasmine had a pretty good idea what that was about.

“If you don’t want to come back to the main house for the next few days, you can stay here,” Silas added. “I’ll come visit whenever I get a chance.”

Right before leaving, Silas lingered, staring at Jasmine for a few seconds as if he had something else to say.

Deciding to cut to the chase, Jasmine asked, “Is there something else?”

Silas fell silent for a moment. “That Caleb guy…”

“He’s a very good friend,” Jasmine replied flatly. As for anything beyond that, she would let Silas stew in his own thoughts. Trying to explain would only complicate things further, especially since Caleb’s comments P earlier today practically invited misunderstanding.

“He certainly seems to have feelings for you,” Silas noted.
