“What brings you here so suddenly today?” Vivienne asked. “You didn’t give me any notice, so I barely had time to prepare.”

Silas leaned back into the sofa, swirling the wine glass between his long fingers. His expression was detached and cold. “What is there to prepare? Keep it natural. You know I despise heavy makeup and strong perfume.”

Vivienne smiled brightly. “It looks like you’re in a terrible mood today.”

She stepped closer, gently massaging his shoulders. “Who upset you this time? Was it Ms. Sterling, or Mrs, Vance?”

Silas motioned toward the seat across from him.

Vivienne dropped her hands and obediently sat down opposite him.

Silas studied her lovely face. “I seem to have told you too much.”

Vivienne smiled softly. “I’m your confidante; I’m here to share your burdens. No matter how much you tell me, I won’t breathe a word to anyone. You’ve always known you can trust me, haven’t you?”

The tension in Silas’s brow relaxed slightly. “I knew I picked the right person.”

“I’m just lucky I happen to look a bit like your beloved Ms. Sterling,” Vivienne replied. “If anyone else had shared that resemblance, I wouldn’t have stood a chance.”

Vivienne still remembered the first time she met Silas.

He had come in alone that night, booking the most expensive VIP lounge just to drink by himself in the dark. Worried something might go wrong, the manager kept peering through the door, hesitant to go in but terrified of facing Silas’s wrath. After all, Silas had explicitly ordered that he was not to be disturbed.

As Vivienne happened to walk past, the manager seized the opportunity and sent her in instead.

The moment Vivienne laid eyes on Silas, she froze. Having seen countless men frequent Eclipse, she had never encountered anyone so remarkably handsome and aristocratic.

Silas, too, caught his breath when he first saw her. It wasn’t because of how beautiful she was or how perfect her figure looked, but because Vivienne bore a striking resemblance to Felicity.

Though he usually despised having the club’s hostesses accompany him, he told Vivienne to stay that night. Despite it being their first meeting, they talked effortlessly. Fuelled by alcohol, Silas opened up to her, and that was the first time Vivienne heard the name Felicity. She learned that Silas was drinking himself into a stupor because the woman he loved was about to marry his own younger brother.

Now, at the mention of Felicity, the tension returned to Silas’s brow.

“Tell me…” he murmured, “what am I supposed to do with her?”

Vivienne didn’t pry. She simply offered a faint smile. “That is a question you should be asking your own

heart.”

“My heart?”

“Mm-hmm. Ask yourself if your love for Ms. Sterling has reached the point where you’d give up everything for her-where it’s her, and only her.”

Silas let out a sudden, brief laugh. “You really are clever.” Then, his gaze turned sharp. “Grandmother is forcing me to get a divorce.”

Vivienne didn’t look the least bit surprised. “Are you going to?”

Silas remained silent.

“Can I ask you a question?” Vivienne asked.

“Go ahead.”

“Now that Ms. Sterling has lost her husband, and the two of you have a child together-and considering you don’t even love Mrs. Vance-why not just divorce your wife and marry Ms. Sterling? I don’t buy the excuse that you’re only holding back to avoid public backlash.”

Silas’s eyes went cold. “You aren’t the first person to ask me that.”

“But you’ve never told them the truth, have you?”

“If you want the real answer, I’ll tell you,” Silas said. “And for the record, you’ll be the only person who

knows.”

“I’m honored.”

A chilling cold radiated from Silas as his gaze shifted darkly. “Because I don’t want another man’s secondhand woman as my wife.”

For a rare moment, Vivienne froze. “Then why are you still with Ms. Sterling…?”

“I can care for her, and I can sleep with her,” Silas said flatly. “But I will never marry her.”

Vivienne offered a faint smile. “So, you don’t actually love Ms. Sterling all that much.”

Silas didn’t answer, but he didn’t deny it either. “Are you going to tell me that the only person I truly love is myself?”

Vivienne looked slightly surprised. “Did someone else say that?”

“She did.”

“Mrs. Vance?”

“Yeah.”
