Chapter 119 I Did Love Her
Chapter 119 I Did Love Her
Her soft lips parted slightly, uttering the exact words Silas had used moments before
“In your dreams.”
Silas stared blankly at Jasmine’s retreating figure, desperately wanting to chase after her.

He was furious, a fire burning inside him, but he couldn’t bring himself to take it out on her. The cold. absolute finality in her eyes as she walked away made a harsh reality set in.
She was actually leaving him this time.
Madeline let out a disdainful scoff. “Well, she’s finally showing her true colors.”
Silas sank onto the sofa, thoroughly exasperated. “Was all this really necessary?”
“Silas, tell me the truth,” Madeline demanded. “Have you actually fallen for Jasmine?”
“No!” Silas shot back instantly. “But I don’t want a divorce either.”
“If you don’t love her, then get a divorce!”
“And what if I said I did love her?” Silas challenged.
“Then I have even less reason to keep her around,” Madeline snapped. “A classless, useless woman like her has no business being the daughter-in-law of the Vance family!”
Silas didn’t even bother to look up, a bitter, self-deprecating smile playing on his lips. “Then why didn’t you stop the wedding in the first place?”
“How was I supposed to know she’d turn out like this?”
Silas cast his eyes downward, masking his underlying heartache. “No, the real reason is that you knew I loved Felicity. You were terrified that if I stayed single, I’d keep going after her. That’s why you couldn’t wait to find me a matching bride and rush me into a double wedding with Julian.”
Madeline froze.
That had been exactly what she was thinking back then. When Silas first found out Felicity was marrying Julian, he had been completely unstable. Madeline had seen him blackout drunk, sobbing Felicity’s name over and over. She had been terrified that Silas would turn on his own brother. Since the Thorne family was a good match and Jasmine was utterly devoted to Silas, Madeline had seized the opportunity to push the marriage through.
Only now did she realize she had invited a wolf into their home.
Unwilling to dwell on the past, Madeline decided to play her trump card. “You’ve been wanting the hotels and commercial buildings under my name, haven’t you? I’ll give them to you. On one condition: divorce Jasmine, and marry Felicity.”

“If you want to inherit my estate, you’d better get this divorce finalized as soon as possible,” Madeline threatened. “Otherwise, you won’t get a single dime of my properties. I still have my precious great- grandson, after all. I can easily write a will leaving everything to him.”
She delivered her final ultimatum. “A choice between that woman and your inheritance-decide for yourself.”
Sierra scoffed over the line after listening to Jasmine finish the story. “Please. That old bat is going to regret
this.”
Halting development on the AI model meant losing a lot more than just five hundred million dollars.
“Honestly, five hundred million was a generous offer!” Sierra added, practically fuming.
“I was really just testing the waters,” Jasmine replied. “I wanted to see what kind of numbers Madeline was willing to throw out.”
“And she counters with five million? Who does she think she’s throwing table scraps to?”
Jasmine decided to change the subject. “How are you settling into your new job?”
“Oh, it’s actually great. The work environment is incredibly healthy-they really care about employee well-being, there are no ridiculous corporate rules, and you don’t have to deal with any toxic office politics. Everyone just focuses on doing their own job.”
“That’s good. Sounds exactly like your ideal workplace.”
“Right? I thought Mr. Brooks was just some computer genius, but he’s actually a phenomenal manager. Silas, that absolute idiot, has no idea how capable his rival really is.”
Jasmine couldn’t help but crack a smile. “Well, he’s always convinced he’s the smartest guy in the room.”
“Oh, by the way,” Sierra said, “there’s a welcome dinner tonight for the new hires. I really want you to come, but I know it’s probably not a good idea for us to be seen together right now. I just wish you could
be here.”
“Don’t worry about it. You guys go have fun.”
Suddenly, a sports car pulled up right next to Jasmine, followed by a low, flirtatious whistle.
“Hey, gorgeous, need a ride?”
Jasmine didn’t even have to look to know exactly who it was.
Sierra heard him over the phone, too. “Is that Caleb, that total jerk?”
Jasmine laughed. “Did you two get into it again?”
“You have no idea. He came by the office yesterday and started picking at my work right in front of Ethan.”
