Fortunately, Ethan was deep in conversation with some of the other guys and hadn’t noticed a thing. Otherwise, it would have been incredibly awkward.
The mention of his name instantly reminded Jasmine of his fiancée, Judy.
Now they were a perfect match.
Caleb shrugged. “Look, losing to Ethan is one thing. But the man is already taken, so you can both forget about it.”
Sierra’s curiosity was instantly piqued. “Wait, tell me more. What’s his fiancée actually like?”
Realizing he had said too much, Caleb gave her a dismissive look. “Go ask Ethan yourself.”
With that, he headed over to the karaoke machine to pick a song.
Sierra hounded him anyway. “Come on, just tell me!”
“Go away.”
“Caleb? Caleb…”
Jasmine watched the two of them, unable to suppress a laugh.
Ethan finally wrapped up his conversation with the others and walked over, handing her a glass of juice. “What’s so funny?”
“Just watching them bicker,” Jasmine said. “It’s nice to see them so happy.”
Ethan glanced over at them. They did seem happy. But he knew perfectly well that Sierra wasn’t Caleb’s type at all.
Jasmine looked back down and took a small sip of her drink. It had just the right amount of tartness with a hint of sweetness-it was delicious. “What kind of juice is this?”
“A fresh fruit blend. I specifically told them not to add any sugar so you could get the natural flavor.”
Touched by the gesture, Jasmine smiled. “Thank you. That’s very thoughtful of you.”
Ethan offered a gentle smile. “You’ve been at the hospital for days. Are you holding up okay?”
“I’m fine. I haven’t really been staying up late.”
“Winter is setting in,” Ethan noted. “Bundle up and make sure you don’t catch a cold.”
“I will.”
A brief silence fell between them. Feeling a pang of guilt, Jasmine broke it.

“I originally thought that if I took the job at Silas’s company, I’d be able to gather more data and bring it all with me,” she admitted. “But plans change, and I don’t think I’ll have the time to do any of that now.”
Ethan’s expression remained warm and reassuring. “Just having you join us is enough.”
Jasmine let out a soft, self-deprecating laugh. “Why are you always so easygoing?”
“Because from the very beginning, it was your talent I wanted,” Ethan replied. “Everything else was just a potential bonus. It doesn’t matter either way.”
Jasmine blinked, finding the phrasing a little ambiguous.
Ethan quickly caught himself, too. “I mean… that’s not how I meant it…”
Jasmine laughed. “I never thought I’d see the day you were at a loss for words.”
After chatting a bit longer, Jasmine moved around the room to catch up with her old friends.
Not knowing she was pregnant, a few people tried to offer her drinks, but Sierra stepped in every time to take them for her. Fortunately, there wasn’t too much alcohol, so Sierra didn’t end up drunk.
Halfway through the night, Jasmine excused herself to go to the restroom.
On her way out, she bumped right into another woman in the hallway.
The woman immediately apologized, “I’m so sorry, I am so sorry.”
Jasmine looked at her and felt a sudden flash of recognition. “It’s alright.”
The woman’s gaze lingered on Jasmine’s face for a moment. Then, with a slight nod, she hurried away.
Even after returning to the booth, Jasmine couldn’t shake the image of the woman’s face. She racked her brain for a long time before it suddenly clicked.
That woman actually looked a bit like Felicity.
The main difference was that she carried a more refined, academic aura than Felicity did. She was wearing the standard long dress of the club’s hostesses, but it was rare to find one with such a distinctly elegant
presence.
It was quite surprising.
The dinner party didn’t wrap up until nearly eleven that night.
Since Ethan and Jasmine were heading in the same direction, they decided to ride back to Moonlight Terrace together. Ethan called for a designated driver.
As they stood by the curb, a sudden, biting gust of wind made Jasmine shiver. Noticing this, Ethan slipped off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.
Jasmine didn’t want him to freeze either. “Put it back on. You’re going to catch a cold.”
