The car pulled to a stop beneath a bridge. The space underneath was empty and desolate, with cold gusts. sweeping through.

As soon as the car stopped, seven or eight people surrounded it. It looked like neither of them was going to walk away from this in one piece.

Jasmine rested her hand on her stomach. She was nervous, if only a little. Not for herself. She was afraid something might happen to the baby.

Though this little life had not been with her for long, the bond between mother and child had already taken root so deeply that Jasmine could not bear the thought of letting go. She had already decided on

names.

If it were a boy, she would name him Evan.

If it were a girl, she would name her Claire.

Rick Dalton flashed a sinister, triumphant smile.

“Both of you, out of the car.”

Ethan showed no fear whatsoever, maintaining a calm demeanor that actually caught the driver off guard.

“Just your bad luck.” Rick said. “I was only supposed to bring the woman, but since you happened to tag along, you get to join her.”

Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Is this Vance or Sterling?”

Rick blinked, thrown off. “What the hell is a Vance or a Sterling? Stop talking and hand over your phones!”

Ethan glanced at Jasmine, who obediently passed hers forward.

Ethan then offered his own explanation. “I think I dropped my phone when we got into the car. You can search me if you don’t believe me.”

Eager to get on with the job, Rick didn’t care to argue. “Get out!” he barked, stepping out of the vehicle first.

Ethan turned to Jasmine, his voice gentle. “Are you scared?”

Jasmine gave a faint smile. “My life isn’t worth much, so I’m not afraid for myself. I just feel bad for the little one in my stomach. Having to suffer with me… and if things go wrong…”

“They won’t.” Ethan took off his wristwatch and placed it in Jasmine’s hand. “My mother gave me this watch for my birthday before she passed away. It means a lot to me. Keep it safe for me.”

Jasmine slipped the watch into her pocket. “I’m getting out too.”

“Stay in the car, Ethan urged. “Promise me that no matter what happens, you won’t step outside.”

Chapter 122 Leave in One Piece

Jasmane shook her head I cant. If something happens to you. I can’t just sit here and watch I’d never have peace for the rest of my life.

The car door was yanked open with a violent shudder.

I said, get out? Are you deaf?” Rick barked, his voice coarse and loud. ‘Stop dragging your feet! What do you think this is a dinner invitation

Ethan stepped out of the vehicle.

Rick then pointed a finger at Jasmine. You, get the hell out of here!”

Let her stay in the car.” Ethan said evenly. It’s cold out.”

“Are you kidding-

The rest of Rick’s sentence never made it out. Ethan’s fist cut him off entirely, slamming straight into his face.

The car door slammed shut again. keeping the interior comfortably warm. Outside, however, chaos erupted.

Jasmine had no idea Ethan could fight like this. Not one person in the crowd of seven or eight managed to land a single blow on him. Instead, they were the ones ending up battered and broken. Ethan was fast and brutal, targeting vital spots with every strike. If he hadn’t deliberately held back, his blows could easily have been fatal. It was hard to believe that a man who usually seemed so refined and gentle could turn into such a ruthless fighter.

Jasmine felt the knot of anxiety in her chest slowly begin to loosen—until she spotted a shadow creeping up behind Ethan, a knife gleaming terrifyingly in the moonlight.

Without a second thought, Jasmine threw open the door and rushed out.

Ethan didn’t see what was happening behind him, but a sudden, agonized wail made him spin around. A man was on his knees, clutching his neck in sheer agony. From experience, Ethan could tell the man’s windpipe had likely been crushed by a kick.

Ethan paused for a fraction of a second. He hadn’t expected Jasmine to possess that kind of explosive force, let alone to completely crush a grown man’s throat. But his immediate concern was her stomach; she was carrying a life that wasn’t even three months along yet.

Ethan rushed over to her, but before he could say a word, Jasmine shoved him out of the way.

A baseball bat came swinging down, striking her squarely across the shoulder. The sheer force of the pain broke Jasmine out into a cold sweat.

Zack arrived with the police. Seeing the group of men groaning in agony on the ground, he let out a massive sigh of relief.

“Mr. Brooks, are you alright?” Zack asked.
