Silas reeked of alcohol. “Make me some coffee. I’m going to take a shower.”

He started walking straight toward the bedroom, but Margaret quickly stepped in his way to block him.
“Silas, Jasmine is sick and already asleep. Don’t go disturbing her.”
Silas’s expression darkened. “Margaret, have you forgotten that I own this place too?”
“Jasmine is the sole owner of this house now,” Margaret retorted sharply. “Technically, you’re trespassing.”
Silas let out a dry laugh. “I’ve noticed you’re starting to sound more and more like her. Like mistress, like servant, I suppose.”
“I’d rather take after Jasmine,” Margaret shot back. “If I took after you, I’d die of shame.”
Silas didn’t seem particularly bothered. He brushed past Margaret and walked right into the bedroom.
When he saw Jasmine lying there still wearing her day clothes, he frowned in confusion. “Why are you in bed without changing into your pajamas?”
Jasmine kept her composure completely. “I had sudden, severe stomach pain and diarrhea tonight, so I had to go to the hospital. I just got back.”
Silas sat down on the edge of the bed. “Why didn’t you call and tell me you were going to the hospital?”
“I didn’t want to trouble you,” Jasmine said. “You’re always so busy, after all.”
“What did the doctor say?”
“Just that I need three days of bed rest.”
“Good.”
Jasmine wrinkled her nose at the foul stench of alcohol on him. “Why are you here anyway?”
For once, Silas actually showed some tact. He got up and moved over to the sofa across the room.
“The other day, when you demanded five hundred million dollars… You were bluffing, right?”
“I meant every word,” Jasmine replied. “So, did you come here to give me the money?”
Silas sighed heavily. “The company is in trouble.”
Jasmine stayed silent. She didn’t need to ask what was wrong-she was the one who had engineered it.
“The core training data for the aerospace AI foundation model we’ve been developing has gone missing,” Silas continued. “Our engineers tried to recover it, but nothing worked. Even our top programmers are completely stumped. At this rate, launching the AI is going to be virtually impossible.”

Chapter 125 Don’t Go Disturbing Her
Jasmine didn’t say a word.
Silas lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, looking utterly exhausted.
Jasmine glared at him in disgust. “I hate the smell of smoke. Put it out.”

To her surprise, Silas actually extinguished the cigarette. His sudden compliance was almost unnerving.
“We had everything riding on this,” Silas muttered. “Once this model hit the market, Nexora Tech was going to be the undisputed industry leader. And now…”
Now, it was all down the drain. And worse, they were completely at the mercy of whoever had done this.
“Lately, my life feels completely out of control,” Silas said, looking exhausted. “It’s suffocating.”
Serves you right, Jasmine thought.
“I’m starting to think Grandmother is behind this,” Silas continued. “She might be sabotaging me to force my hand.”
Jasmine was taken aback. Silas’s logic was truly baffling. No matter how ruthless Madeline could be, she would never tank her own family’s company just to make a point.
Silas seemed to be talking to himself now. “She’s giving me an ultimatum. It’s either a divorce or my inheritance. I can only choose one.”
Jasmine finally spoke up. “So, what’s your choice?”
“I don’t want a divorce,” Silas said. “But it looks like… I don’t have a choice. So….”
Jasmine was already entirely set on leaving. She had been worried that extracting herself from this marriage would turn into a long, drawn-out ordeal even after she finished what she needed to do. But this made things incredibly simple.
I agree to the divorce,” she said.
Silas blinked in surprise. “Grandmother will never give you five hundred million dollars.”
Jasmine offered a faint smile. “I don’t need five hundred million anymore. Fifty million will do.”
The core training data for the AI model was safely in her hands anyway; she could become a billionaire overnight just by selling it. Of course, she had no intention of doing that. She planned to give it to Ethan for free as a way to return the favor. Still, she wasn’t about to leave the Vance family empty-handed. She might as well milk them for what she could.
Silas stared at her intently.
“I’ve spent three years with the Vances without a job or a social life,” Jasmine explained smoothly. “I’ve completely lost touch with the world. Once I leave this family, the Thornes won’t want me back either. I’ll be entirely on my own, so I just want enough money to guarantee my financial security.”
