“Alright. I’ll draft the agreement first, and as soon as Leo is discharged from the hospital, we’ll head to family court to file the paperwork.”
Jasmine quietly breathed a sigh of relief. “Sounds like a plan.”
Madeline’s ultimatum carried an irresistible allure that Silas simply couldn’t refuse. After everything they had been through, Jasmine never would have guessed that her absolute least favorite person would end up inadvertently doing her a massive favor.
Silas took Jasmine’s hand in his, gazing at her with sudden tenderness. “Jasmine, I’m only just realizing how wonderful you truly are. Don’t worry, once Grandmother hands the inheritance over to me, I’ll bring you right back. We’re just putting on a show for her for now, pretending to get a divorce.”
Jasmine forced a tight smile. “Sure. But you still have to give me the fifty million dollars. Otherwise. Grandmother will never believe the divorce is real.”
Silas agreed without a second thought. “I can manage that much.”
He sounded astonishingly generous. As if worried Jasmine might still have doubts, he offered yet another
reassurance.
“Trust me, I’m not abandoning you. Once I inherit the estate, I’ll be the one running the Vance family. No one will be able to tell me what to do. Besides, I’m sure Felicity won’t mind you coming back.”
Jasmine had to fight the urge to spit in his face.
Who did he think he was-an emperor building a harem?
Suppressing her sheer disgust at his touch, she managed to say, “Silas, I really don’t feel well. Can you please let me get some rest?”
With his biggest problem seemingly solved, Silas complied easily. “Alright. Get some sleep, then. I’ll head
out.”
A few minutes after he left, Margaret slipped back into the room. “Jasmine, he didn’t hurt you, did he?”
Jasmine smiled faintly. “He came to ask for a divorce.”
Margaret’s eyes widened in surprise, but her shock quickly turned to pure delight. “Oh, thank goodness! It’s finally happening. You can finally live your life on your own terms, Jasmine.”
Jasmine looked a little anxious, though. “I just hope he doesn’t sober up tomorrow and change his mind. Oh, by the way, Margaret, tell Ethan he can come out now.”
“Ethan left a while ago,” Margaret said.

“He left?”
“Yes, right after Silas walked into your room, he slipped out. But he looked incredibly upset when he left. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone as gentle as Ethan look so fierce.”
Jasmine let out a soft sigh.
Ethan was bound to look into what happened today, and he wouldn’t let it slide. Theodore likely had no idea exacly who he had just crossed.
Seeing Silas walk out, Marcus quickly got out of the car and opened the door.
Silas climbed in, rolled down the window, and lit a cigarette.
Noticing that his boss’s mood seemed to have improved, Marcus felt a bit bolder.
“Mr. Vance, I called the testing center today,” Marcus said. “They told me they’ve expedited the process, so the results should be out by the day after tomorrow. Should I pick up the report, or would you prefer to go yourself?”
Silas didn’t care much about the matter; his mind was entirely consumed by what would happen after the divorce.
“There’s no rush on that. The result won’t change either way,” Silas replied. “Right now, I need you to handle something else first.”
“Of course, Mr. Vance. What is it?”
“Have the lawyers draft a divorce agreement.”
Marcus froze. “Mr. Vance, you’re getting a divorce?”
No way.
Over the past few days, Marcus had noticed that Silas’s attitude toward his wife had clearly softened. Why the sudden decision to divorce?
“Most of the Vance family assets are still in Grandmother’s hands,” Silas explained. “If I keep crossing her, she won’t leave the estate to me-she really will leave it to Leo.”
“You mean Leo Brooks? But leaving it to him is practically leaving it to you, isn’t it? You’re Leo’s biological father.”
Silas’s expression turned calculating and complex. “But he’s also Theodore’s grandson, and Felicity is a Sterling.”
It took Marcus a moment to connect the dots. “Are you worried Theodore is after the family fortune?”
Silas remained silent, letting the quiet speak for itself.
“I doubt he would,” Marcus murmured. “Felicity loves you so much. She would never do anything to betray
