Chapter 139 Keep Dreaming
Right. She still had a baby to think about.
Caleb looked at her, his heart breaking. “Look at you. You’re tiny, you’ve been running yourself raggedi you’re dealing with injuries, malnutrition, and now a fever. I honestly don’t know how the little guy is holding on in there.”
Sierra smacked him. “Watch your mouth. My godson is a fighter.”
“I don’t care how much of a fighter my son is; nobody can take this much stress!” Caleb shot back.
Sierra blinked. “Since when is he your son?”
“Jasmine is going to marry me eventually, so whose son would he be?”
Sierra rolled her eyes. “Keep dreaming.”
Caleb glanced instinctively at Ethan before turning his attention back to Jasmine. “The divorce papers are signed, so there’s no reason for you to ever go back to that house. Just stay here. Sierra can move in with you so the two of you can look after each other.”
Sierra immediately clapped her hands in agreement. “That’s actually a great idea! I can pack up and move in tomorrow.”
Jasmine rubbed her throbbing temples. “No, it’s fine. Honestly, I just want some time to myself right now.”
Caleb and Sierra exchanged a worried look.
Jasmine let out a heavy breath. “I know what you’re both worried about, but don’t be. I promise I’ll do my best to pull myself together.” She looked over at Ethan. “Ethan is right. My dad hasn’t truly left me; he’s just found another way to stay by my side. Someday, we’ll see each other and be reunited.”
Caleb clicked his tongue. “Well, look at that. You didn’t hear a single word I said, but you took everything Ethan said straight to heart. Talk about blatant favoritism.”
Jasmine really wasn’t in the mood for jokes. Realizing how exhausted she was, everyone decided it was time to leave her to rest.
“Get some sleep,” Sierra said, heading for the door. “I’ll come back to check on you tomorrow.”
Jasmine watched her and Caleb walk out.
Ethan stood up and walked over to the side of the bed. “I should get going. Rest up.” He looked preoccupied, as if something heavy was weighing on his mind.
Jasmine could only manage a quiet, “Thank you.”
Ethan pressed his lips together, remaining silent as he turned and left.
On his way out, Ethan ran into Margaret. He pulled out a business card and handed it to her. “Margaret,,

Margaret didn’t think much of it at first, until Ethan added with absolute seriousness, “Right now, the only people she has left to trust and lean on… is us.”
Realizing the gravity of his words, Margaret nodded solemnly, her heart swelling with gratitude. “Thank you. Ethan. Thank you for taking such good care of Jasmine.”
Ethan gave a slight nod and walked away.
Margaret watched his retreating figure, completely lost in thought.
What a wonderful man. If only Jasmine’s husband had been Ethan instead of Silas, how different things would be.
Caleb and Sierra hadn’t gone far. They were waiting just outside the door for Ethan.
“Right on cue,” Caleb said, a hint of mockery in his voice.
Sierra couldn’t help but sneer. “Karma’s a bitch. Silas got exactly what he deserved.”
Caleb turned to Ethan. “Are we going public with this?”
Ethan looked back at the closed door, his brow still furrowed with tension. “Not yet.”
“Why not?” Caleb asked, puzzled.
“As far as I know, the Vance family is throwing a celebration for their heir in a few days,” Ethan said, his clear eyes darkening slightly. “When the time comes… We’ll present this to Silas and the Vances as a special gift.”
Felicity had locked herself in her room and hadn’t even come down for dinner.
Assuming she was heartbroken, Silas sat in the living room, sighing heavily and aching for her.
Meanwhile, now that she knew the truth, Madeline was relentlessly lecturing him. “How could you take Felicity to a wretched place like that? What if you brought some bad luck back with you and passed it on to
Leo!”
“Exactly, Silas,” Victoria chimed in. “You were so thoughtless. That place is a complete jinx.”
Their nagging only added to Silas’s growing frustration. “When my dad died, didn’t you all go? Did you think it was a jinx back then?”
Madeline slammed her hand on the table in a rage. “Your father was your father, and that woman is that woman! How can you even compare the two? Silas, are you trying to vex me to death on purpose?”
Silas immediately backed down. “Grandma, I’m sorry. I misspoke. My mind is just all over the place right
now.”
