Chapter 141 I’ll Just Wait
Chapter 141 I’ll Just Wait
Chloe didn’t get angry or discouraged. “Then I’ll just wait. He’ll see me sooner or later.”
The guard shook his head helplessly. But just as he was about to speak, his phone rang.
A few seconds later, he hung up and looked at her. “Ms. Vance, Mr. Brooks said you can go up.

Chloe was beside herself with joy. “Are you serious? Mr. Brooks is actually seeing me? I knew my sincerity would pay off!”
Not wanting to burst her bubble, the guard simply said, “Please head on up, Ms. Vance.”.
The elevator stopped on the nineteenth floor.
Katie, the receptionist, had been notified ahead of time and walked over to greet her. “Ms. Vance, Mr. Brooks is waiting for you in the conference room.”
Secretly thrilled, Chloe said, “Lead the way!”
“Right this way, Ms. Vance,” Katie said, gesturing toward the hall.
They walked down the corridor to a conference room. Katie knocked gently on the door.
A deep, charismatic male voice came from inside. “Come in.”
Katie pushed the door open. “Mr. Brooks, Ms. Vance is here—”
Before Katie could even finish her sentence, Chloe burst past her into the room.
“Ethan!”
Ethan raised a hand to dismiss Katie.
Katie secretly rolled her eyes at Chloe as she backed out of the room.
By now, the whole company knew that this Ms. Vance had a crush on Mr. Brooks and was actively pursuing him. Katie had assumed she would be someone impressive, but she turned out to be completely devoid of manners.
Katie let out a quiet scoff.
Someone like her didn’t deserve Mr. Brooks at all.
Inside the conference room, Ethan wasn’t alone; Sierra was there too, having just gotten him to sign some
papers.
Seeing Chloe, Sierra smirked, her eyes full of mockery. “Well, hello, Ms. Vance. I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Because of Jasmine, Chloe could never bring herself to like Sierra. But with Ethan sitting right there, she couldn’t just ignore her either.

Chapter 141 I’ll Just Wait
Forcing herself to respond, Chloe said, “I didn’t realize you worked for Ethan.”

Sierra gave a meaningful smile. “And I didn’t realize you were so persistent, Ms. Vance-willing to throw the Vance family’s dignity out the window just to wait downstairs for Mr. Brooks.”
Chloe couldn’t care less. “What does this have to do with my family’s dignity? There’s nothing wrong with going after the person I love.”
“There’s nothing wrong with going after someone you love, sure,” Sierra countered. “But throwing your at a man when you know he has a fiancée? That’s a moral issue. Oh, wait, is this just a Vance family tradition? Do you all have a habit of craving what belongs to others?”
Unable to stomach the blatant mockery, Chloe immediately lost her temper. “Who do you think you are lecturing me? You’re probably just jealous! Don’t tell me you’re secretly in love with Ethan too, and seeing someone else pursue him makes you miserable.”
Sierra froze, her mind instantly going blank as she forgot what she was about to say.
Catching sight of her embarrassment, Ethan spoke up smoothly.
“Sierra, let your department know they’ll need to work some overtime tonight. Late-night snacks are on
me.”

Sierra’s eyes lit up. “You got it! I’ll go tell them right away.”
For a late-night spread courtesy of Mr. Brooks, the team would gladly log the extra hours. He was never cheap about it; his meals were always incredibly generous and delicious. Compared to the cheapskate bosses at her old company, it was night and day.
Only after working with Ethan did she realize that he wasn’t just a brilliant powerhouse in tech-he also possessed a genuinely magnetic personality.
No wonder nobody ever wanted to leave once they started working here.
As Sierra passed Chloe on her way out, she couldn’t resist a final jab. “Good luck, Ms. Vance.”
Chloe ground her teeth in frustration.
Ethan tapped the chair to his right. “Please, have a seat, Ms. Vance.”
Chloe quickly hurried over, sat down, and immediately began whining. “Ethan, I’ve been waiting for you for days. Why did it take you so long to see me?”
“I never asked you to wait, Ms. Vance,” Ethan replied flatly.
Chloe pouted. “Why do you keep calling me Ms. Vance? Can’t you just call me Chloe?”
“We aren’t on that level of familiarity.”
Chloe reluctantly dropped the issue. “Why didn’t you come to my birthday party the other day? You promised you would. How could you go back on your word?”
