Chapter 168 Vivienne’s Favor

Chapter 168 Vivienne’s Favor

Ethan offered a faint smile.

“I’d really like to meet your mom, too. How about you give me that chance?”

Jasmine smiled back. “Alright, then. Let me treat you to a nice dinner first-my treat.”

Ethan didn’t refuse. “Sure.”

The “nice dinner” turned out to be at a cozy, character-filled restaurant specializing in exotic regional fare The decor matched the theme-warm, textured, and inviting.

It wasn’t a weekend, so the place wasn’t packed, but it still buzzed with a pleasant crowd. They’d gotten a private booth, quiet and relaxed, while a live acoustic guitarist strummed soft tunes in the background- enough to ease away the lingering tension of the day.

The meal was comfortable, filled with easy conversation. When they were done, Ethan reached for the

check.

Jasmine playfully swatted his hand away. “I said I’m treating.”

Ethan chuckled, graceful as ever. “Since when does the lady pay? How about you pick, I pay?”

“Nope,” Jasmine insisted, her tone light but firm. “I’ll get mad if you do that, seriously.”

Erhan hesitated briefly.

She gave his arm a friendly, almost brotherly pat. “Don’t treat me like some delicate lady. Think of me as one of the guys. Problem solved.”

Watching her stroll toward the host stand, Ethan couldn’t help but linger on that word-guys.

If only it were that simple.

After she paid, they made their way out together. Halfway to the exit, Jasmine suddenly stopped.

“Oh shoot-I forgot the parking validation. Wait here a sec.”

Ethan opened his mouth to respond, but she’d already spun around quickly-right into the path of a server carrying a loaded tray.

In one swift motion, Ethan pulled her back by the shoulder.

He misjudged the force; Jasmine stumbled forward, her forehead bumping straight into the bridge of his

nose.

Ethan grunted in pain.

Jasmine’s hands flew up instinctively, her fingers gently checking his nose.

Chapter 168 Vivienne’s Favor

“Oh my gosh-are you okay? Did I break it? This is totally my fault. I’m such a klutz.”

Ethan let out a soft laugh, his eyes crinkling.

“It’s fine. This one’s real, anyway.”

Jasmine grinned. “Good thing, or I’d really owe you one.”

They shared a smile-warm, natural, almost like a couple in their own little world.

Then Jasmine glanced up and froze.

Speak of the devil.

Not far off stood Silas.

His back was to them, so he hadn’t noticed them yet.

Jasmine nudged Ethan subtly and tilted her chin toward Silas’ direction.

Ethan followed her gaze.

“Want to wait for him to leave first?”

They were positioned right along the path to the exit-there was no way to avoid crossing paths unless Silas moved first.

Just as Jasmine was about to reply, she saw Silas start to turn, his gaze about to sweep toward them.

But halfway through his turn, someone stepped into his view-a woman.

She looked familiar.

Tall, poised, undeniably attractive, with an air of polished confidence.

It clicked for Jasmine-she’d seen her before. That same woman from the Eclipse Lounge last time.

The woman approached Silas, said a few words, and Silas gave a slight nod before turning to leave with her.

But as they walked away, the woman glanced back over her shoulder-and gave a small, almost imperceptible nod toward Jasmine.

Jasmine was stunned.

Then it dawned on her: the woman had just helped her. She’d intentionally pulled Silas away so he wouldn’t see Jasmine here with Ethan and stir up unnecessary drama.

But why would she do that?

They didn’t even know each other.

And who was she to Silas? They seemed close-too close for casual acquaintances.

Even in the car afterward, Jasmine stayed lost in thought.

Ethan read her effortlessly.

“Still thinking about that woman?”

Jasmine blinked. “How’d you know?”

Ethan’s lips curved. “Lucky guess.”

Jasmine mock-sighed. “You guess everything right. It takes all the fun out of it.”

She sounded almost like she was pouting.

Ethan replied lightly, “Then I’ll stop guessing next time.”

“No,” she said quickly, then grinned. “Keep guessing. I’ve always said you’re sharper than me. Don’t forget -you were top rank back in the day. I’ve always looked up to you.”

Ethan couldn’t hold back a smile.

“And yet my assistant Zack still treats you like his ultimate idol. I’ve been completely dethroned.”

Jasmine laughed. “That’s because he sees you every day. No novelty left!”

Ethan raised a brow.
