“Look like fools?”
Jasmine’s smile flickered between mock sincerity and cold truth.

“Victoria, I’ve been married into this family for three years, and this is the first time you’ve offered such an objective assessment.
“Indeed, you all look like fools.”
“You-!”
Victoria almost raised her hand to strike, but a sharp look from Madeline stopped her.
Madeline knew she had been played. She was fuming, but she knew she couldn’t show it.
Losing her temper now would only make the Vance family look even more barbaric and unreasonable.
Madeline had decades of experience over Victoria; she knew how to mask her rage.
“It appears the fault truly lies with Chloe,” Madeline said.
Her expression shifted instantly, making her look like a benevolent elder once more. “Jasmine, Chloe is still young and impulsive. Don’t take it to heart.” Then, she turned to Chloe. “Chloe, apologize to Jasmine right now.” Chloe had no intention of bowing her head to someone she loathed.
She pouted and grabbed Madeline’s arm, acting like a spoiled child.
Madeline shot her a warning look. “Behave. Admitting when you’re wrong is a virtue of the Vance family. Apologize now.”
Victoria quickly caught on to Madeline’s strategy
“Chloe, do it. Don’t let people think a Vance child has no manners.”
Jasmine, however, wasn’t looking for a simple apology.
“Grandmother, what was it you said earlier? Surely you haven’t forgotten so soon?”

Madeline looked uncomfortable and glanced at Silas.

Silas stepped in immediately. “Alright, that’s enough. Chloe is just a kid. Don’t be so petty. I’ll make sure she learns her lesson later.”
Jasmine offered a mocking smile. “Oh, you were all very ‘petty’ with me just a moment ago. And Grandmother already gave her word. Whatever punishment was for me is now for her.
“You all heard it, didn’t you?”
“Unless?” Jasmine paused pointedly. “Unless you want Grandmother to be known as someone who goes back on her word?
“She is the head of the house and the face of this family. Her word should be the law. Surely she wouldn’t break it.”
“Grandmother,” Jasmine said, her lips curving upward. “Am I right?”
Madeline knew she was trapped.
If she didn’t punish Chloe, she would lose all respect and authority in front of Jasmine.
She hadn’t realized her eldest granddaughter-in-law could be this sharp.
She had clearly underestimated her.
Madeline steeled herself. “Chloe, go to the courtyard and kneel.”
Chloe stamped her foot. “Grandma! No!”
“Go! Actions have consequences!”
Victoria’s eyes turned red. “Mother!”
She wanted to protest, but she wisely kept her mouth shut.
If Madeline had spoken, there was nothing she could do.
Chloe turned to her last hope, Silas.
“Silas…”
Silas felt a pang of pity and looked at Jasmine.
But when he met Jasmine’s firm, mocking gaze, the words died in his throat.

“Chloe, Grandmother told you to kneel. Go.”
Chloe burst into a loud, earsplitting wail.
“Jasmine.”
Jasmine watched Felicity walk toward them, a cold smile forming in her heart.
Finally, the lead actress is making her entrance.
And she was playing the lead role in the finale.
Since she had just given birth and was being pampered by elite nannies, Felicity looked radiant.
Her figure was curvaceous, and her full chest was prominently displayed, looking quite alluring.
Jasmine couldn’t help but glance at Silas.
He was already rushing to support Felicity, his voice full of gentle concern. “I told you to rest in your room. Why are you out here?”
Felicity looked at him with eyes full of tenderness. “I heard a commotion and was worried. Don’t worry about me, Silas. I’m fine.”
