Chapter 176 Leverage
Chapter 176 Leverage
“That kind of money,” she said, “I still have.”
“Where did you get it?” His voice was tight, skeptical. “I know exactly what’s in your accounts-don’t I?”
A faint, almost imperceptible smile touched Jasmine’s lips. “Eleanor didn’t tell you? That’s surprising.
Silas stared at her, uncomprehending. “What kind of game are you playing?”
She let the silence hang for a few deliberate seconds. “Remember the Thorne family’s six-hundred-milion debt?”
“Of course. What about it?”
“That debt… my father didn’t settle it. I did.”
For a moment, Silas just looked at her, stunned. “You? How is that possible?”
“I put up six hundred million of my own and cleared it.”
He couldn’t wrap his head around it. “Jasmine,. be serious. Where would you get six hundred million? Don’t tell me you scraped it together from loans.”
She sighed, a soft, convincing sound. “I borrowed some of it, yes. But I can manage the repayments. So don’t worry, Mr. Vance-I won’t come up short when it’s time to buy the Thorne Enterprises shares.”
He let out a dismissive snort. “Those shares are worth far more than six hundred million.”
Calmly, she replied, “Whatever price you pay, I’ll match it.”
His expression was openly incredulous. “You have that kind of money? What’s your plan-robbing a bank?”
Jasmine didn’t take offense. She even chuckled lightly. “If you agree to transfer them to me, I’ll handle the finances. You don’t need to worry about where it comes from.”
“No,” Silas stated flatly. “Thorne Enterprises will be mine. As for the divorce case, if you want to drag it through court, I’ll fight you. Any fallout from that… the Vance family can absorb it.”
Jasmine fell quiet for a long moment. Her smile faded, and she rested a hand lightly on her stomach. “You should think this through carefully, Mr. Vance. You’d just be reselling the company to me, not giving it away. Once this is over, I’ll quietly step off the Vance family stage. I’ll walk away with nothing, and after that, you’ll never hear from me again.
“But if you insist on a court battle, the damage won’t be small.
“Never mind your own reputation or the hit the company will take-” she paused, her gaze steady. “Don’t you care at all about your sister-in-law anymore, Mr. Vance?”
Silas stiffened. “What does she have to do with this?”

A cold laugh escaped Jasmine. “I forgot to mention. That photo of you and your sister-in-law entering the hotel-the one you tore up last time-I have plenty more copies. And also…
She leaned forward slightly, her voice dropping. “I have pictures of the two of you getting… quite intimate
in the car.”
Silas’ face darkened to an almost frightening degree. His hands clenched into fists so tight they trembled, one wrong move, and he might have lunged.
But Jasmine met his icy stare without flinching. A faint, weary smile returned to her lips. “Like I said, I’ve got nothing left to lose anymore. I’m prepared to let it all burn down. But you, Mr. Vance.. you’re well known across Rivercrest, you have a beautiful woman by your side, and now a handsome son. That picture-perfect life of yours… if it were shattered, the loss would be tremendous.”
Silas sat in heavy silence for what felt like ages, saying nothing.
Jasmine didn’t press further. She had said enough. It all boiled down to whether Silas was willing to gamble with her.
Her original plan had been to use the divorce lawsuit to publicly humiliate the Vance family. But when Eleanor insisted on selling Thorne Enterprises to Silas, Jasmine had been forced to shift gears.
Thorne Enterprises was her father’s life’s work. If he had wanted to sell, he would have done so long ago. He wouldn’t have struggled all these years to keep it afloat.
So, for her father’s sake, she had resorted to this.
As long as she could save Thorne Enterprises, nothing else mattered.
Eventually, Silas stood to leave. On his way out, he said only one thing, “Let me think about it.”
Jasmine returned to the room. Margaret was sitting with Anna, talking to her softly. Even though Anna couldn’t understand a word, Margaret chatted with her daily-always about Jasmine.
Jasmine took a seat across from Anna. “Margaret, start packing over the next couple of days. We’ll be moving to Gracie Heights soon.”
“What about this place?” Margaret asked. “Are we selling it?”
“We’ll keep it. It’d be a shame to sell.”
There was a pause. Then Margaret said quietly, “Jasmine… I overheard your conversation with Silas earlier.”
“Yes.”
“Are you really planning to buy Thorne Enterprises? But… where will you get that kind of money?”
Jasmine offered a small, tired smile. “Remember that case of jewelry my father left me?”
“You’re going to sell it?”
