“What makes you think Jasmine is worthless? Just because she’s beautiful, you assume she has nothing else to offer?”
Caleb’s lips curled into a mocking smile.
“One day, Mr. Vance, you’ll realize what a priceless gem you took for granted and let slip away. And when that day comes, you’ll probably be on your knees begging for another chance.”.
Silas clearly wasn’t buying it.
“You certainly see the world through rose-colored glasses when it comes to the woman you love, Mr. Grant.”
Caleb clicked his tongue softly. “We’ll see about that.”
Silas’ eyes drifted to Caleb’s hand resting on Jasmine’s shoulder-a gesture he found irritatingly hard to ignore.
“Should I remind you, Mr. Grant, that the woman you’re holding is still legally my wife?”
Deliberately, Caleb pulled Jasmine a little closer, his movement provocative.
“The divorce papers are already signed, and yet here you are pulling the husband card. Besides, when did you ever treat our Jasmine like a wife? If you had, why would she choose to walk away with nothing rather than stay?”
Silas’ gaze settled on Jasmine’s face, heavy with disapproval and accusation.
“Walk away with nothing? Isn’t she trying to take Thorne Enterprises from me? Blackmailing me into transferring the company shares?”
Caleb paused briefly, then leaned toward Jasmine and murmured, “See? You’re keeping things from me again.”
Jasmine replied wearily, “Eleanor transferred the shares to him. I had no choice-I had to protect what my father built.”
Caleb snapped his fingers lightly.
“Exactly. When you’re dealing with someone who plays dirty, you fight fire with fire. You can’t blame Jasmine for that. If anyone deserves blame, it’s you, Mr. Vance, for not acting like a decent person in the first place.”
Silas was so furious his vision almost blurred.
“Fine. You want the shares? Where’s the money?”
The question struck a nerve.

Over the past two days, Jasmine still hadn’t figured out how to come up with the remaining funds.
She visibly lost her edge.
“Give me a few more days. I’ll pull the money together.”
Silas’ tone dripped with skepticism and scorn.
“Jasmine, cut the act. I know you better than that. There’s no way you’re getting that kind of money together.”
Just as Caleb was about to jump in, Jasmine stopped him.
Right there in front of Silas, she made a call-on speakerphone.
Eleanor’s irritated voice came through shortly after.
“Why are you calling? We agreed not to contact each other anymore.”
Jasmine replied coolly, “The six hundred million. When are you paying it back?”
Eleanor was at the mall with Hugh at that moment. The mention of money instantly shifted her tone.
“Why the rush? I’ll get it to you in a couple of days.”
“I want it by the day after tomorrow at the latest,” Jasmine stated firmly. “Make sure it’s in my account by then. Otherwise, you know what happens.”
“Alright, alright,” Eleanor conceded hastily. “I’ll have it arranged tomorrow. You’ll get every cent, Jasmine. Just remember what you promised-once the money’s paid back, we’re strangers from that point on.”
“I always keep my word,” Jasmine said flatly before ending the call.
She tilted her head and met Silas’ gaze.
“Convinced now?”
Silas stared at her, stunned into silence for a long moment.
“Where did you even get that kind of money?”
“Oh, you know,” Jasmine replied casually, “I’m great at swindling and stealing. That’s where it all came from.”
Silas’ brow furrowed deeply.
“Fine. Let’s say you have the six hundred million. What about the rest? Planning to rob a bank for that, too?”
“That’s my problem, Mr. Vance. Don’t trouble yourself over it.”

Silas drifted into thought briefly. His anger gradually settled, and a faint, almost cynical smile touched his lip’s.
“We were married, after all. Let’s say I’m not completely heartless. I’ll give you three days. If you can pull the money together in three days, I’ll sign over the shares.
“But if you can’t,” he added, his voice turning cold, “you’ll never get this chance again. No matter how much you offer, I won’t sell.”
Three days?
Jasmine knew Silas was deliberately making it difficult for her.
“We don’t need three days,” Caleb interjected suddenly. “How about tomorrow? You can bring the contract. Mr. Vance, and we’ll sign on the spot.”
Jasmine looked at Caleb in surprise.
This was no joking matter.
Caleb raised an eyebrow at her.
“Ms. Thorne, would you mind if I came in as an investor?”
Jasmine hadn’t expected that. For a moment, she was speechless.
“You know my biggest passion is investing. Sure, Thorne Enterprises hit a rough patch, but it still has strong potential. How could I pass up a profitable opportunity?”
Jasmine still seemed uncertain.
“You’re… serious?”
For once, Caleb’s eyes held a look of genuine sincerity.
“Dead serious. It just depends on whether our Ms. Thorne is willing.”
