Chapter 187 Theodore’s Fist
Vivienne went still.
“Are you… trying to set me up as your mistress?”
Silas brushed his thumb over the bruised corner of her lip,

“I know you have your pride, but this is that kind of place. Things like this will keep happening. It’s better if you leave. That way, I can have some peace of mind too.”
Vivienne didn’t ask what he meant by peace of mind.
She already knew.
What Silas called peace of mind was really about his own pride.
The way the customer had treated her today was a slap in the face to Silas.
He wouldn’t let it happen again.
Vivienne pulled out of his arms.
“What if I don’t want to leave?”
Silas was already on edge, and that set him off.
“Vivienne, don’t push me, alright? Or are you saying you want to end this between us?”
A dull ache spread through Vivienne’s chest.
“If you want to end it, I’ll accept that.”
Silas frowned, grabbed her hand, and nipped the back of it lightly.
“You’re playing hard to get now? Since when did you pick up tricks from her?”
Her?
“You mean Ms. Thorne?”
Mentioning her put Silas in a worse mood.
“Who else? And don’t call her that anymore. Tomorrow we’re filing for divorce online. If everything goes quickly, the papers could be finalized in two weeks.”
Vivienne opened her mouth, then hesitated.
“You have something to say?”
“There’s something, but I’m not sure if I should tell you.”

Chapter 187 Theodore’s Fist
Silas’ temper was wearing thin.
“Since when do we hold back with each other?”
Vivienne wavered. “I’m just worried that-”
“Just say it,” he cut in, impatient.
Finally, Vivienne spoke. “Actually, I’ve run into your wife twice.”
Silas’ eyes narrowed slightly. “I didn’t think you two would ever cross paths.”
“Just a coincidence, I guess. No matter how big Rivercrest is, it’s still one city.”
“And?”
“The first time was at Eclipse. The second time… she was at a hotel with a man I didn’t recognize.”
Silas’ gaze turned sharp. “What did you just say?”
Vivienne kept her voice steady. “He was forcing her into the room. It looked like he was trying to…”
Silas’ breath caught. “And then?”
Vivienne placed a calming hand over his clenched fist. “Don’t worry. Nothing happened. I stepped in and knocked him out before he could hurt her.”
Only then did Silas realize how tightly he’d been holding his fist.
Vivienne felt a wave of relief-from his reaction, she was almost certain he hadn’t been behind what happened.
“Silas, I think someone’s trying to hurt her.”
Silas pressed his lips into a hard line.
“Even if you two aren’t together anymore, you were married for three years. Maybe you should look into who did this.
“Whoever it was went pretty far, like they didn’t care about your reputation at all. Who do you think it could be?”
Who?
He wanted to know, too.
A hot rush of anger burned in Silas’ chest.
Know who you’re messing with before you pick a fight.
Coming after his wife was like spitting right in his face.

A sudden knock came at the door.
After Silas grunted in response, a girl younger than Vivienne stepped in, holding a small glass jar.
“Vivienne, this is a salve my grandma makes back home. It works really well on bruises. Here, you should put some on.”
Vivienne gave her a warm, grateful smile.
“Thank you, Maria.”
The girl scowled. “Mr. Sterling went way too far today. How could he hit you like that? You should’ve told him you’re with-”
“Maria!”
Vivienne’s tone was sharper than she’d ever used with her before.
“You should go.”
The girl fell silent and hurried out of the room.
Vivienne glanced almost nervously at Silas.
She saw his pupils tighten, his expression turning complex and unreadable.
Silas’ voice came out low and hard.
“Mr. Sterling… Theodore Sterling?”
But Vivienne kept her composure, softening her tone.
“Of course not. Why would it be him?”
