Chapter 205 The New Home

“Yeah,” Sierra agreed. “What could be more important than the bond between sisters?”

Over in the other car, Caleb was lost in his own thoughts.

Ethan, meanwhile, paid him no mind.

After zoning out for a good while, Caleb grew bored of his own daydreaming. He reclined his seat and stretched out comfortably.

“Hey, Ethan.”

“What?”

“Tell me something-I’m not that far behind you. So how come you’re drowning in attention, and I’m stuck here flying solo?”

Ethan glanced at him sideways.

“Flying solo? If I remember right, you’ve already been through three girlfriends this year.”

Caleb waved a lazy hand. “Those were just for show. Nice to look at, but none of them really clicked with me. Not my type, you know?”

Ethan smirked but didn’t reply.

Caleb shot him a look.

“My type is someone like Jasmine.”

Ethan said, “Okay.”

“Once Jasmine’s divorce is final, I’m making a move.”

“Okay.”

“I’m serious.”

“Okay.”

“Quit just saying ‘okay’. Give me something real. What do you actually think?”

“What do you want me to think?”

“What do I want? Just speak your mind.”

Ethan kept his tone even.

“Go ahead and shoot your shot.”

Chapter 205 The New Home

Caleb raised an eyebrow. “You mean that, or are you just saying it?”

Ethan replied, “You’re not going to get her anyway.”

Caleb sighed. “Come on, don’t crush me like that. But what if I did?”

“There’s no ‘what if”

Caleb deflated.

“Yeah, honestly… I already knew there wasn’t.”

Back in the day, they’d been through everything together-fought side by side, shared every high and low.

But nothing ever sparked even a hint of feeling in Jasmine for him.

After all these years, why would there suddenly be a “what if” now?

“Hearing you say it so bluntly still stings, though, Ethan. Right here.” He tapped his chest. “A little sympathy wouldn’t hurt.”

Ethan said, “How do you want me to comfort you?”

An idea lit up Caleb’s face.

“That limited-edition flight model in your office… heh…”

Ethan shrugged. “Fine.”

Caleb blinked. “What?”

“Whichever one you like. Take it.”

Caleb pinched his own cheek. “Am I dreaming?”

He’d asked about that helmet maybe a thousand times and always got shut down. Today, Ethan just gave in, just like that?

Why?

This was Jasmine’s first time stepping into the house in the suburbs.

The moment the door opened, her breath caught.

It was way more upscale than she’d imagined-and more dreamy, too.

A sudden wave of sadness washed over her.

Because the style of the place, the furniture fabrics, the curtain colors, even the art on the walls…

everything was exactly to her taste.

If she had to guess, her father had chosen every detail himself.

He’d always known her best-what she loved, what she didn’t.

He used to say that on the outside she seemed tough and fearless, but deep down she was tender-hearted. with a quiet love for beautiful things.

Caleb walked out onto the deck and whistled.

“Wow, Jasmine, this place is amazing. Beats that condo in Moonlight Terrace hands down.”

Even though it was outside the city, it didn’t feel remote or lonely at all.

If anything, it had its own kind of vibrant, settled charm.

The house was built right by the lake, surrounded by trees and greenery, with a gorgeous, unobstructed

view.

And with that huge wall of windows, the light poured in, framing the scenery perfectly.

With a layout like this, you could easily spend all day lounging by the window, doing absolutely nothing, and never get bored.

Sierra walked through the whole place and loved it too.

“Jasmine, maybe I should buy a place out here too. We could be neighbors.”

Jasmine smiled. “I’d love that.”

Caleb threw an arm around Ethan’s shoulders.

“Ethan, get me a place here too. I want to be Jasmine’s neighbor.”

Ethan said, “The sun’s still up.”

Caleb frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Sierra laughed. “He’s telling you to stop daydreaming, dummy.”

Caleb wasn’t offended-he just grinned.
